Memory lane is covered in broken glass.

I first posted the above video a year or two ago, and promptly lost track of it. Fortunately it finally made its way home so that I can post it again.
Working with the internet is an interesting process. Obviously coming from a visual arts background, I look at each post that I assemble similarly to a painting, and the content that I draw from around the web as the medium with which I’m working.
So with this as an analogy, imagine sitting in front of a partially finished painting, your brushes at the ready, and you pallet being a thousand miles wide, covered with every color and hue imaginable, but you’re looking for a very specific one.
Maybe in some cases, it’s even a color that you mixed especially for a previous project.
I’m getting into this because aside from the above video, for days I have been on the hunt for a specific website that seems to have vanished entirely.
If I remember correctly, it was a Blogger platform consisting of nothing but the most random, amazing and original imagery I’ve ever seen.
You might remember this shot I found there;
have you seen this cat because it is awesome.jpg
And though I never posted it, this was another one that came from the site;
frozeninice.jpg
And of course this one;
ohlordwhereareyou.jpg
It was the kind of site that I want to be when I grow up. Anyway, it seems to be gone with the wind, and as has been said many times before, if you love something, set it free. If it comes back to you, it’s yours. If it doesn’t, hunt it down and kill it.
Luckily though, all of these years later, Noah got ahold of me with news that Lord Thundercock is alive, well, and living the dream;
wall+death+blog.jpg
In other news of the whirld that has nothing to do with thunder or cocks, this forthcoming event is one that folks in, under, and around the Bay Area will be sure to want in on;
rallycatebatw.jpg
Like with most organized events these last couple of years, I would very much like to attend, but that would entail leaving the safety of my closet and with every day that passes, the less likely that becomes.
It’s dark and warm in here and I like the way I smell.
Now from Logan, I have one for the ‘what could possibly go wrong?’ file;

“A fool and the skin on his forehead are soon parted.”
Now in closing, a final bit of news regarding some official Bizniz-
I know I mentioned this previously, but as of today I have new news. As I said on Wednesday, I have taken the preliminary steps in getting our very own AHTBM kits made by the good people at Voler Clothing.
They are absolutely bending over backwards for me, and making adjustments to their usual minimums because I did such a bang up job of sweet talking them at Interbike this year.
I can really pour on the honey when I want to, and for that meeting I did so in gallons.
So to recap, this is the kit;
kitforopenwindownotification.jpg
As far as sizing goes, just to ensure you are getting what you want, and because each company has their own versions of small, medium, large and so on, if you are unfamiliar with how Voler sizes their clothing, check around, and if you can, actually try some on at a friend’s house, your LBS, or wherever you know you can find their products. This way you will be guaranteed to have the perfect size and cut for your body.
Now, please read the following information C A R E F U L L Y.
The updated and official information on the kits is as follows;
Short sleeved club cut jersey (AMP fabric with 3/4 LENGTH zippers)- $73.00
Short sleeved club cut jersey (AMP fabric with FULL LENGTH zipper)- $75.00
*Also note that the 3/4 length zippers are hidden. The full length zippers are not.*
Peloton bib short (rear butt panel) Triton Nylon Lycra, Torino seamless pad- $78.00
Short sleeved skinsuits (Pesente fabric, Tornio Pad)- $107.50
If you want to begin placing orders now, tear it up.
PLEASE SPECIFY MEN’S, WOMENS, AND SIZE, WITH YOUR ORDER.
I will be placing the order on the 18th of March.
AFTER MARCH 18th, THE ORDER WINDOW WILL BE CLOSED.
From that point, the production process will take six weeks (though due to Voler’s backlog, by my estimation should ship from me, the second week of June.)

If you have any other questions, feel free to direct them towards me and I will do my best to answer them.
Thank you for your time and consideration on this matter.
And now to paraphrase the immortal greats, “everybody have fun this weekend. Everybody wang chung this weekend.”

    Stevil,
    I know of the EXACT random image site you speak of above. The site got so much traffic that it was going to cost the guy a couple grand to keep it up and going. Sadly he had to shut her down due to the funding issue. It was an amazing site. I too miss it dearly.

    Stevil, the random image site is back up, check out http://www.them-thangs.com. And yes, the kit will be radded out in NC.

    That kid should wear a helmet. Didn’t he hear what happened top Mike Aitken?
    The kits are sweet. No long sleeve skinsuits? You’re neglecting those of us who race in below freezing temps.

    Regarding long sleeved suits.. I really wanted to, but that would have involved an added revision, and I couldn’t swing it. This was the best I could do.

    ‘pallet being a thousand miles wide, covered with every color and hue imaginable, but you’re looking for a very specific one.’
    bingo.
    you can visualize it but words fail…it almost always leads to mental paralysis.
    there are those, those that pay my bills, who have been known to piss and moan when i haven’t shipped a box or answered an email, they’re all “really? is that all you did today?”
    that makes me kind of sad.
    until i find something awesome.
    thank you al gore.

    Here’s a good random image site for you: http://www.fuzzysquid.com/LJ.php
    It’s a feed of pics uploaded to LiveJournal. Sometimes VERY nsfw, but always entertaining. Check out the forums on gigposters.com for the most epic thread in the history of the internets with the best of the best of that feed.
    And, are these jerseys coming in fat boy sizes? Cuz I’ve got this chubby friend…

    Stevil,
    This is probably a different site, but it caters to your ‘wonderful’ image needs’.

    The guy who posts it all is a regular in the Melbourne, Australia ‘scene’.

    I’m waiting to hear back from my accountant about financing for some kit, Stevil. By that I mean, I’m gonna roll some change and see what I come up with. Thanks to loonies and toonies, I can usually scrounge a c-note. Yaaay for money that’s to heavy to carry around.
    BTW, thanks for the link, girevoy.

    Stevil, what in the fuck is wrong with you? How come there aren’t any organically grown indigenous person-knitted alpaca-lined moderate cold weather AHTBM windbreakers with removable sleeves and five pockets available? What are those of us who occasionally ride bikes on days where it starts out really cold, but then gets kind of warm, and all the time our conscience is asking us if our gear is fair trade compliant, supposed to do?
    Honestly, I can’t believe how you’re screwing us over with the limits you put on this order.
    Ps. I wouldn’t be as upset about the lack of that particular type of windbreaker, which even Primal offers, but you ignored my suggestion for mink-lined AHTBM codpieces. I’m sure if we could talk Voler into it, it would be a runaway success.

    when i watch vids like ruben’s, and then vids like the track ‘trick’ ‘jam’ from nahmbs, i think the 20″ kids have shit on lock and the 700cc kids took too many locks to the head. what’s a skinsuit without longsleeves? ah it’s a black market bummer life indeed.
