If this is all that shows up on Friday..

it’s because my home base has gotten slammed with several days of torrential storms, knocking the power out, effectively turning my home into a cave;

Not exactly that kinda cave though.. Way less Southwestern decor. More like this one;

Anyway, because I care about the readership of this site, I felt the need to write this disclaimer early, and then contemplate the possibility of having to run around my neighborhood looking for someone with some sort of wireless internet device in an attempt at finishing, and then publishing today’s post.
If it ends up being a complete transmission, than all that means is that my cave never lost power.
Thank you for your time and consideration on this matter.
While the lights are still on however, I’ll try to cram some stuff in here.
Wanna watch some kids do rad stuff on tiny bikes?

Big Bikes Thom, who was responsible for turning my head to the previous clip, went on about it thusy;
“Maybe I’ve had my head in the sand regarding the progression of BMX cinematography, but this is incredibly impressive to me, a truly beautiful piece of film work, a quantum leap in technique and presentation. We’re talking Mega Shark Vs. Giant Octopus compared to Avatar here.”
That’s a damn fine assessment, but if I had but one dying breath with which to make a declaration, it would be that Pink Floyd makes my skin crawl.
Anyway, speaking of Dallas, I bring to you the sad, sad news that it was there where an exotic dancer was recently killed by a tiny penis.
This is especially tragic in light of Dallas’s stripper shortage.
I just poured a bottle of glitter on the curb for my dead peeler homie.
As long as we’re on the topic of strippers, we should probably mention that Corndog of Dank Bags fame has finally made available for public consumption his infamous hairnet helmet;

While they might not be legally allowed in races, they are almost guaranteed to get you laid, so you just gotta take your lumps.
Out in Colorado, (the place where you can find Boulder, serious cyclocross racers, and my teenage innocence), 685 has unveiled the newest component of his Pentabike empire;

It’s a nifty little book end for his famed Muststash unit.
If you want to speed up your charge at becoming 166.6% better looking, you needn’t search any further.
Then from the part of the Bay Area that’s East of the West Bay, Matt sent in this image of evidence that someone there is tired of fanning the flames of someone else’s discontent;
spreadanarchyordont.jpg
Between taking turns rolling around in their dirty money, Rage Against The Machine would be proud.
So between downpours recently, my occasional partner in crime, Brij reached out to touch me and together we partook in a longish and quasi-lonesome road ride;
brijonec.jpg
It’s always a pleasure to get out with him, as he is an encyclopedia of stories and a genuinely nice fellow to boot. As we were riding we had one or possibly two local star sightings when we either crossed paths with one of the Jacques-Maynes brothers twice, or one just after the other. If it was the former, then he completed our entire loop twice in the time that it took us to ride five miles. If it were the latter, then when riding in the opposite direction at speed, I still can’t tell them apart;

At least when they both weren’t riding for Bissell I stood a fighting chance.
But that aside, as much as I love riding my bike on pavé, I am ready for the sog to be gone from the ground. The local trails are in as bad of shape as I have ever seen them, and no amount of paltry trail maintenance on my part is going to help that. People have absolutely refused to stay off them this winter, and most have been reduced to little more than ever widening bogs. I suppose as long as I continue to steer clear, I can sleep easy at night knowing I am attempting to do my part.
Soon enough however, my lovely, lovely new Ritte Van Vlanderingham speed cycle, affectionately dubbed ‘The Saüsberg’, will be landing in my loving arms, and will assuredly reignite an inferno of love for the long and endless road miles.

Finally, and as per the usual, not relating to any of this in the least, Mike Evans who was responsible for the jaw dropping Soulcraft Bicycles video that has recently been making the rounds;

-sent me an email after this past weekend’s bike show (in which I had installed a few samples of my own work, which does suck) with a fine example of art that does not;
“Hey Stevil
Nice meeting you at the show, had a chance to look at some of your art after it cleared out, cool stuff, made me think you would dig the work of a buddy of mine from back east, he’s pretty prolific with the pigma pen.
bodieonbrickwall.jpg
Dig through his site, his pen and ink stuff is pretty nuts. Just thought I’d share.
-Mike”

It’s always encouraging to come across the visual efforts of someone that makes me reassess my own. Then again, I can always fall back on the excuse that mine is sub par for the simple fact that I live in a cave.

    I think it is nuts that the whole Mutiny team rides sans brakes. Is it progression? Maybe. Is it adding to the craziness? Fuck yeah. Sold video.

    Makes me reevaluate my tongue-in-cheek love of Burroughs and bullets.

    That video makes me want to go back in time and learn to be rad on a BMX bike…
