The hornets have gone back home.

After all of the hullabaloo on Wednesday, the person who penned the post that gave me a sad face retracted their statement and offered an apology;

I really appreciate both her humility and the fact that readers of this site came to my defense.
Very little gets to me, and having to defend myself on a topic which I am sensitive to, to a faceless individual certainly did.
Thank you to everyone concerned.
Going from this happy ending to other matters, we have a few points to cover before I take my leave to the Interbike show, where there will assuredly be a lot of women, which will be great, because I’m happy to have more women in the bike industry all the time because it was previously a big sausage fest and wasn’t good for anybody and I like women riding bikes.
Speaking of which, regardless of my obvious loathing of women, Kayla from Babes in Bikeland sent me a heads up about the success of her event;
“Parade-rain-ers aside, the race was awesome! 252 women raced! If you want to see what that looks like, check out this video of the start.

The number of attendees was proportional to the amount of rad, so we considered it a huge success.

I do like what those ladies are up to, and I was sorry to not have been able to sponsor it again this year. Times are a little tight, but I will definitely get back on the program for 2012.
In news of ‘YOU NEED TO SIGN THIS‘, Oklahoma Senator Coburn is fixing to ask Congress to eliminate the federal Transportation Enhancements program. This program is primary source for nearly all dedicated federal bike and pedestrian funding.
I doubt this request will grow legs, but taking a second to make your voice heard certainly wouldn’t hurt.
Did you sign it? Go ahead. I’ll wait.
Now then.. In the post box on Wednesday, what should I find but a gift from Alex;

I’ve found on chilly nights it also doubles as a snappy scarf as well.
I appreciate Alex’s efforts and I look forward to testing it out a couple dozen times between now and next June 21st.
As I have mentioned previously, Portland Design Works has uprooted their Circulus and have reassembled it in the Sands Convention Center for your viewing and riding and crashing pleasures;
CirculusAtInterbikePoster.jpg
California DiStefano and I have been enlisted to speak into microphones and describe the events taking place in the bowl for the crowd, with the exception of when an actual, and professional announcer takes over during the Jeremy Powers, Tim Johnson event. This a good thing, as I would probably ruin something for somebody anyway.
Also, Thursday night, we of course have the AHTBM, Ritte, Soulcraft, Paved Magazine industry Bottom Dweller® Extravaganza;

Lastly, and speaking of both the Circulus and Paved Magazine, I just received (that’s a lie. I went to the book store and bought a copy) the brand new issue which features a huge array of amazing photos and wordage that you have come to expect;

As for me, I have my regular ‘Axis of Stevil’ article in the back, but I have also provided an actual feature regarding my trip to Portland during PDW’s official unveil of the Circulus to the great unwashed masses.
(Please don’t take that out of context. I don’t really think that people from Portland are unwashed. That was a joke.)
The feature was written under a different pen name so if you love it, it was me. If you hate it, it was the drummer from Journey.
That’s it from my end of the square. I’ll be back with a post on Monday the 19th, so until then, I’ll see you in Nevada, or on the internet, where I will undoubtedly be getting yelled at about one thing or another.

    Nice to see that she has gotten some religion in the form of AHTBM and apologized for calling you out- not many are big enough to do that.
    All is right in the world again.

    That whole girl thing was a joke? Damn, I tried to help by pushing the girls I encountered on the trails into big patches of poison ivy. I may have to go look for girls with large swaths of blisters on them, and supply them with Caladryl lotion. Did you put your attorney on retainer for Vegas trip yet?

    judging by today’s photos, all of your efforts at driving away women cyclists sarcasticly aren’t working. maybe you should try luring women into cycling, but do it ironicly. ouch, brain cramp.

    If you start putting disclaimers on every sarcastic comment you post, I’m gonna write a long and poorly informed diatribe about how you’re ruining sarcasm for everyone.

    I’d thought of this before, but failed to mention it. Don’t you figure the guy in your poster wearing the Paved shirt should probably have some flowing locks a la JPHNH? It would make him stand out in the crowd of Rapha predecessors.
