Aaron Draplin is the tits. Tells it like it is for sure. He’s got a few other vids over on the youtubes where he speaks candidly about design…if yer inclined.

The eyesores of yesterday become the treasures of today.

Draplin is an inspiring dude. And I say “dude” because it’ll piss him right off if he ever sees this comment.
Of all my past landlords, Aaron was definitely one of them.

Inspiring, very cool post. Now every time I see a cool sign replaced with crap the number $15,000.00 is gonna pop up in my head. That’s a fucking crime.

Easy to dismiss things as nostalgia, but craft has taken leave, and there’s more to design than a workable knowledge of illustrator. Cheap plastic fluorescent signs create blight. Used to be they weren’t tolerated.
Also, per yesterday”s post, watch this:

Right below the Human Powered Trails, and next to the Myrick eco park, we now have a giant LED sign. Messages change every 8 seconds. It requires air conditionres to cool the mechanism it sucks so much electricity. You can now go for a midnight hike in the woods and keep yourself oriented by the comforting glow of advertising. Onwards progress.

this JUST happened to me at work. no, it didn’t involve a sign or ebay, but it did involve people pulling their head out of their @$$ long enough to see the bigger picture. (the Corel Draw part made me giggle.)
