Sometimes I feel like the world is out to break me.

Album_Damaged

Terrorist rampages in Peshawar, hostages in Sidney, and racial tensions brewing at home. Environmental horrors at every turn and those hired to guide us seem to be utterly committed to driving us all at top speed into an apocalypse of their own creation.

And then I fall back on the only defense I have to any of it, being my own words and actions.

If I can live a good life, and not harm other people, and not adversely effect their own existence with mine, then it’s a win. If I can get out of this world without leaving too much of a negative footprint, then it’s a win. If I can effect even a semblance of positive change, and that could simply be having a conversation with a person who has a conversation with a person who has a conversation with a person who implements said change, then so be it.

Because really, when it seems that the world is falling down around my ears, that hope is all that keeps me going. That we as a community (this here readership) remain both mindful, and thoughtful. We appreciate and celebrate that which is foreign to us, because it’s different. We try to be a positive force on those around us, and to help make the world a little less angry, because we understand that sometimes a tiny bit of good can undo a whole lot of bad.

This is the hope that keeps me going, and though it might not seem like it when I post yet another compilation of gymnasts falling off of balance beams, or stories of hidden cans of beer along ride routes, my hope is that someone will become incrementally happier because of it, and perhaps make somebody else’s day better and so on.

Because as I said, in a world that leaves me feeling nearly powerless, this is the one thing that offers me some, and some is always better than none.

Thus concludes my Friday morning mission statement. I thank you for your time and consideration on this matter

It’s with that, that I reckon the time for getting up and getting on with matters at hand is upon us.

Just for the hell of it, I’ll post an image of a bikecycle that Breadwinner Bikecycle Company Incorporated just finished for my dear, sweet friend Daniel Wakefield Pasley;

dwpsbikefront
Via Breadwinner’s Flickr thing.
Why, if that just isn’t one of the prettiest bikes I’ve ever seen.

One day I will drag my parts across it, and then share photos will Daniel months after the fact, because that’s what friends are for.

And not relating with anything ‘pretty’ exactly, aside from the color of their souls, Cranpa from FMB came through with yet another example of just way he’s one of the hardest working people in show business;

Stevil,

I made a new video, of me and my friends riding bikes if you wanna check it out and or share it….

You know what I have to say about that?

Blessed be thy Cranpa.

Now, back on track with three matters of marginally important business.

First up, there are just two days left (the site shuts down on Sunday at midnight) for folks to get in on the pre-order for the 2015 AHTBM kits;
09-02 LARGE FRONT
08-65 LARGE FRONT
They are real snappy, and are guaranteed to make your bikecycle related athletic pursuits at least 15% more funerer.

If they don’t, I will gladly give you your money back.

The second being that along with a box of random crap, Cheever just sent me a new order of Evil Cycling patches;
IMG_2386
As you can see in the above image, the new ones are slightly different than the ones depicted in the store, so when you get them and they are, it’s gonna be ok.

At least you weren’t one of the 30,000 rubes who bought a box of Cards Against Humanity Bullshit.

Unless of course you were.

Thirdly, and speaking of patches… About a week ago or maybe a bit longer, I released the AHTBM Metal Patch;
cliffsmall
The thing is, upon making that initial announcement, the patches were actually en route to my house, so anyone who ordered one has been sitting around with empty mail boxes.

After getting my heart dragged around by UPS, they finally showed up on Wednesday night and shipped Thursday morning.

I appreciate people’s patience on this. Frankly, I was pretty stressed, but now I can go back to being stressed about other things… Like the fate of the world and humanity’s commitment to ensuring a less than desirable one.

    Media overload. People have been killing, raping, and acting like fools since the dawn of man. It’s just that the naked lady box feeds it to you all at once. Look for the good in man. Consider the fuzzy orb. Binder of nations, uniter of friends, fodder for bloggers. The tennis ball. Go and contemplate it. Then ride your bike my friend.

    today my new swobo accomplice arrived. i was elated as i so sorely needed something positive in my life as i’ve been discouraged with the state of things as well, and the helplessness of being unable to do anything to remedy the shit storm. i felt like a kid opening that box, (i’m 40). had my tools all at the ready. stared at the green glow for a second or two before pulling my new bike from the box only to find- it wasn’t the size i ordered. first world problems and all that, but damn, now what? (asked rhetorically).

      Shockingly, I wasn’t the one who botched your order. That was kinda my ‘thing’ back when I worked there. What now, is you call them and get them to make it right. And if they give you any lip have them take it up with me.

      Once Swobo customer service. Always customer service. It just means he gets a residual.

      Shoot me an email at peter at swobo.com and we’ll sort you out. Do check that box size is right. We recently discovered a few bikes mis-stickered on the seat tube and this may be the case. You can look at this image: http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0163/2170/products/Accomplice__Geometry_1024x1024.JPG?v=1415728355 and compare to the size listed on the end of the box.

    I’m always happy when I leave here. I find myself visiting on Tuesdays and Thursday’s from time to time just on the off chance that just maybe… Don’t ever forget you are truly appreciated. I am sure one day you will move on to bigger and better things and we will all be happy for you but that day will suck balls.

    Crandall and his good-timer clinics have been informing my techniques and stuntery form since at least ’97. It’s right to see him still at it.
