Wednesday is a party to which everyone is invited.

Hello and here we are once again in the middle part of the week. Some might call it the hump, while those of a more pessimistic perspective might call it the ditch. Whichever side of that particular aisle you sit, allow me to be the first to welcome you to it.

Getting right down into business, in breaking news, Steve made contact with some very important information. It seems as though over the weekend during the the Philadelphia International Cycling Classic woman’s race, a couple of hearty souls were caught secret training for the upcoming Wizard Staffs Across The Universe celebration;

I have had some proud moments in my life- The birth of my first fifteen children, teaching my cat to put on pants, the one time I broke top 30 in a mountain bike race, but this surpasses all of them.

*Note- I’ve come to find that these dirts hail from Rohan Cycling, who with this one act, might very well have secured themselves as my most favorite cycling team ever.

Moving on from wizard staffs to fallen (anti)heroes, (depending on your perspective) it has come to my attention that fighter, overall enigma, and by all accounts, actually really nice guy, Kimbo Slice has recently has passed away at the young age of 42;

I can’t think of a more appropriate time for Thom Parson’s 2010 tribute to the man than now;

God speed, Kimbo. We’ll catch you on the other side.

Now then- Anyone who’s spent any amount of time here knows of my love of curbs, and playing atop them with a rollerboard. It was just a couple of weeks ago when Lowcard Magazine sponsored the sixth annual Mid-90s slappy competetion in the increasingly unlivable city by the bay;

Alas, I was in Chico that weekend, so I couldn’t try my hand at winning, or even short of that, securing the old guy award.

Next year I’ll be a year older, which will assuredly work to my advantage in that regard.

At that time I hope to hear something along the lines of the following;

you’re a pretty crappy skateboarder, but you’ve got gray hairs so here is your trophy.

-Which with any luck will be a cane topped with a box of Viagra.

As I’ve said before- I’m not too old to ride a skateboard. I’m just too old to fall down.

Finally, in closing I got a disheartening bit of news in an email from my homie Cory over there at Bellingham’s Kona Bicycle Shop. It seems as though a tweaker went all haywire on one of their windows on Monday night and walked away with a haul;

Stevil-

I hope your week started better than mine.

Thumbs down,

So folks in the pacific northwest, keep your eyes peeled.

The offenders have a party coming to them, albeit one of a more blanket-ie sort.

    Bike shops without bars on the windows blow my mind. It’s a shitty, but we didn’t move a single bike in before we had roll down cages. Doesnt matter how nice a town you are in.
