Picking up the pieces.

Starting things off and right out of the gate, and in reference to that which we discussed on Friday, from my own actual blood sister I got an email that read like this;

Hi Stevil,

Our conversation the other day spurred a lot for me. I’ve been busy creating ways that we can be engaged and visible as allies. I created a social networking platform called Dedication Zone, and have developed t-shirts, and bumper stickers. I thought I’d share in case you’d like to pass any of it on to your network.

Thanks for sharing with me- I hope you are taking care and getting and giving good support.

Love,

S

I’ve only just learned a little bit of the backstory regarding the use of safety pins as a visual queue to those around you, but I’m all for acts of subversion, and standing up for what’s right, so there you go.

I thank my own actual blood sister for taking part and making a move. I suppose it’s a directive that runs in my family.

Though all of that being said, of course there’s already opposition to the effort.

I don’t event know what to think anymore.

Perhaps I’ll just continue to wear my go-to;

In other news, as I mentioned last week, I traveled to San Diego in order to see one of my very most favorite bands of all time, and I’ll be dogged if a company called Rowlbertos Media didn’t make this bad ass little recap of what went down;

I can’t begin to describe how how badly I want to do it all over again.

In a blast of unrelated unrelatedness, Mike clued me in on an internet thing that made me actually laugh in an audible manner, or as the kids say, ‘lol’;

If only for a moment, all of the images in that link made me feel a little better.

Now then- Since what we have here is a bikecycle, and bikecycle related action sports website, I suppose it stands to reason that we should cover some of that topic now.

Firstly from Aaron Edge from ROTS Army I got a little heads up regarding his business goings on;

Stevil-

Just wanted to let ya know that ROTS (Riders on the Storm) is having a 20% off Shiver My Timbers sale until the end of the year;
saleadvert
Thanx for being a rad source of bicycle-related hooha Stevil.

Best,
A

So go get your ROTS Army merch like, meow.

And while we’re on the topic of sale items, I’ll circle back around to this post and continue to pimp my own wares.

In order to fund upcoming projects, I’m blowing out goods in my own store.

I’m unloading shirts;
blackmettleshirtmask11-1
and books;
bakubook1-1
and hats;colt-seavers-hat1-1
and wristbands;
blackweiser-wristband-1
(but not sandwiches)- and a bunch of other stuff.

They all make good stocking stuffers, and will ensure that I have the scratch to finance the next wave of AHTBM goods that you’ll surely be able to live without.

Finally from Jeff who recently threw this here alleycat to raise funds for the 2017 NACCCs got in touch with some words and photos detailing how the whole shebang went down;

Hi Stevil-

I just wanted to give you a recap of the race and a final thank you.

Everything went off great with House Party Cat 9. The weather was near perfect with high 60s to start the day and mid 50s come race time to help out with the racer turnout. We ended up having 49 racers register with 34 finishing in time to make the times cutoff;

Racers were sent all over Milwaukee neighborhoods and performed a number of checkpoint party activities including gold sprints, beer bongs, jousting, cargo bike races, card games, the mystery drink wheel and the keg stand competition;

Between race registration and t-shirt sales we earned enough money to pay for next year’s NACCC track day at the Kenosha velodrome!

And most importantly the race went off without a single major injury.

So once again I’d like to thank you for the help and donations that helped to make this race a success once again.

Cheers,
-Jeff ONeill

That looked to be a real fine time, and I appreciate Jeff keeping me, and by extension, this here readership in the loop on all the comings and goings.

It’s in conclusion that I will now share a simple thought that just came to me- Though the world around us is increasingly proving to be a real shitshow, I’m of the opinion that the taller we stand, (either upside-down on a keg or not), it’s with our voices, brains, and bodies we’ll continue to live, love, look out for each other, and immerse ourselves in events like the aforementioned, (or whatever your particular bike-related poison).

In doing so, we will prove to be a force that will leave the opposition picking up the pieces of their own.
