Just a regular old day in the mailbag.

Jumping in with both feet, we’ll get into a handful of correspondences just to see what’s going on with folks all across this great planet of ours.

First up Greg from Bike Monkey Magazine made contact regarding a project that he’s involved with that might be of interest if you live in Northern California, like to race the mountain bikecycles, plan to be alive on June 2nd, and have taste in things that are cool, none of which apply to me;

“Stevil-

Here’s the latest pollution:

We cracked the can on this one today, soft and stealthy. Registration is open for SoNoMas, presented with solid support from our pals at NorCal Bike Sport. It’s one of the hardest courses around and it’s a bit toasty, but that makes for a pretty tight field of dedicated crush-o-nauts. It’s 35 singletrack miles around Lake Sonoma and we’ve got cash purses for pro men, women, and singlespeeders, should they take up the mantle. We’re trying out a shorter course this year just to keep things a bit more civil.

Camping is included in the cost, as are suds from Lagunitas and post-race grub. We’ll have waterborne Zissou-esque support, Camelbak water bottle upgrades on course, and goodies from GU in every direction. We’re in year 4 on this thing and the Lake is still the least utilized MTB venue around. Come up, race, drink, and wonder why that is right along with us; registration is at www(dot)bikemonkey(dot)net(backslash)sonomas.

Okay, it’s long, but you hack as you’d like. I’ve got this purty logo too:”

“hack as I like” is not a suggestion. It’s a way of life.

Then Dan from Maximo Supremo residents The Nashville Bicycle Lounge sent me a heads up about some pretty sweet new skins he just made;

“Stevil-

AHTBM on the collar… The pentagram is the logo for Menstrual Cycles, “Nashville’s most bad ass all women bicycle gang”. Gotta support the ladies. Really want to find a way to get Ride for Reading and Music City Cycling on it, but anything else added to the back will clutter it up. Any suggestions are more than welcome – Thinking somehow on the side panels – Dunno.

Anyway, you willin to promo this mofo, pimp the ladies/shop/drinkin’ in exchange for logo/brand placement? And you will get one that is one size smaller than whatever size you want.

-d”

I’m proud to be a part of such a poorly planned project. If a jersey such as this might strike your fancy, shoot old Dan an email, and ask him if his refrigerator is running.

From Jeff, (who works for Maximo Supremo residents All City, donchaknow?) I got an email that might as well been poetry written by angels;

It’s coming this fall.

September arrival. 80 pcs limited edition.

Super sweet.

tell the world please.”

See what I mean? Pure poetry.

You’ve heard me gush about my Nature Boy o’pleanty. You don’t need to hear it again.

But the fact of the matter is, it’s awesome and I love it;

Another group who recently has taken up residence in the Maximo Supremo section and who happens to be one of my favorite manufacturer of things is Giro with their new line of Reverb helmets. Getting them there was no small feat on anyone’s part, as I have been rattling their cage since I launched this site. As I would have guessed, their debut there came with all of the fireworks that one would expect from such an esteemed company, and is detailed in the following email from my dear friend Mr. Blacksocks;

“I can’t believe we have an ad up finally. Thanks so much!

So related… I know this really nice guy. He makes beautiful, soulful art, rides his bike around the city. One sunny day not too long ago, he let us make a video about his commute from home to work…and how important it is to his art and his view of the world around him.

Here’s the link to the video if you want to check it out. We’d be forever grateful if it’s worthy and not too commercial for content…And at some point in the near future, we’ll have another ad and video with Paul Steely White, the head of Transportation Alternatives in NYC (a badass rider and the most compelling bike advocate I’ve ever met).

Anyhow:”

I love that they are finally at the party. Better late than never I say.

And if you would like to see more of Chris’ art, you needn’t look any further than here.

Finally Andy Fyxomatosisinghamerton sent an announcement that any and all who might find themselves down unda next month will want to make note of;

Melburn Roobaix – Registration closes this Friday!

Just in case you wanted to add a member to your grupetto or have friends that might like the idea of a day spent roaming Melburn by bike – you can register here.

Some lucky devil will again win a return airfare to Paris to see the real thing, the Cutest Couple will get a night on the town, and the best Roubaix bike under $200 will get untold glory and prizes. Follow FYXO twitter and the event page for more.

Personal Hell.

If you’ve wondered what it might be like to cover the cobbles of Roubaix, here’s some insight;

After Andy’s death march, you might not end up with your head in a bag, but then again, you also might not not.

Spread this like it's sick

    Broke out the AHTBM kit on Tuesday for a couple-hour jaunt around Mpls. Shortly afterward, I was overcome w/ full body aches, chills. Went to bed, awoke with screaming fever. Bronchitis/walking-pneumonia is the doc’s verdict.

    Am I unworthy of the kit, and this is Satan’s way of casting me out? Or am I just a candy ass who ought to remain on the sidewalk?
    Either way, thanks for the free hallucinations. (Oh, I haven’t got the doc’s bill yet…) I sure looked good riding bad/ly…
