Tomorrow is now.

today istomorrow

Here we are together again in the wilds of the internet. It’s a strange place where we’re all anonymous and can randomly sign into various websites and be mean to other anonymitos without consequence. Conversely, we can come here, where almost without exception we wear our faces and names on our sleeves and own what commentary we wish to address as if it were our own, because it is.

It’s just another way to offer thanks to the readership who come here and interact, or occasionally email me or maybe even none of those things.

I appreciate your presence to a degree that cannot be described, and though it’s been said before, I felt the need to say it again. Thank you for the support.

Now that we’ve gotten the mushy stuff out of the way, let’s move on with a few pressing matters.

From the super honch bike racer with the magic fingers known the world over as Mo, I got this bit of news about a throwdown occurring in just nine days time;

Hey Stevil,

We’re smashing out a wicked raffle and party to benefit the Amy D Foundation. Wondering if you would mind giving us a shout out?
MMRacingPartyFlyersmall
The grand prize is a custom Seven Cycles with SRAM Force, Mavic wheels, TRP brakes etc.

The prizes are stacking up and we’re hoping this is the biggest Boston bike party of the year with a big donation to the foundation.

If you want to donate any AHTBM items to the raffle, I’ll try not to steal them for myself. (wearing hat daily this winter) If you’re tapped out, NBD, but if it’s a creepy painting, I’ll definitely steal it for myself.

Here’s the links you can share:

Our newsletter, and our bikereg raffle page.

Thanks and I’ll be sure to post pics of all the people that show up to the event riding bikes!

Mo

A few points abut Mo’s email for those who might not be on the same page, so to speak- When you read it in your head, read it in a horribly thick Boston accent, because the Little Baby Jesus® would want it that way. The second point is that Amy Dombroski was a dear friend to tons and tons and tons of people in the cyclocross world as well as beyond, who was tragically killed this past winter while training in Belgium. The third point is that the hat to which Mo is referring is an amazing wool winter cap that was made for me by Chuey Brand. I just sold the very last one, so if you missed the boat? Suckit.

Finally, her point about making sure people ride bikes to the event references an email she sent me which we detailed in this post, initially regarding this Tweet;
mbrss
To elaborate on her point, when attending a bike event, it’s ok to ride your bike there. Likewise, when it’s applicable, when going on a bike ride, it’s ok for one to ride their bike to it as well.

Bike racers seem to have the most difficult time wrapping their minds around this concept, but sadly I’ve seen it in all corners of our community.

And speaking of our community, let’s get down to business in the mail bag to see what the scoop out there is.

From Shane I received probably the most important transmission in the last like, three days;

Stevil,

I realized I hadn’t at least sent you something stupid in a while and figured I would pop in and extend a “put er thar” for old times sake and check in. It seems your been a busy man doing “bidness”, I hope it hasn’t cut into your pleasure time. I’ve been busy too, I’ve been learning to build bike frames with Silent Cycles here in Chattanooga. I’ve been trying to learn the craft of brazing and tig welding. I was able to make my own frame and have been trying to break it ever since.

If you haven’t checked out Justin’s stuff, I don’t think it would be a waste of time;

Anyways, just thought I would drop in, boost my ego and run away. Also, I have found convicting footage of a Bigfoot caught on tape, so there. May we all eat shit and die if that thing got loose.

Shane

Well I’ll be damned if those stays aren’t the closest thing to sex that I’ve ever seen.

That’s actually a lie, but they are real pretty.

And as the curtain draws to a close, I will keep my vow from Monday and Pete the repeat regarding the smashing new All Hail The Black Market kits;

The reasons behind my browbeating of this are four:

Reason one) Because we have a limited window in which to get all manner of kit items outside of just the jerseys and shorts- (vests, thermal jackets, etc.)

Reason two) It’s a little known fact that the king pin of Voler, one Jim Helser has some fairly serious ties with organized crime;
Jim
While he may look all nice and smiley and stuff, he’s kinda done me a favor by doing these kits. As I’m sure you understand, the Mob isn’t known for its altruism. Should we not do exceedingly well with the sales of the new kit, he has people who will do horrible, horrible things to me. And not the exciting, weekend in Tijuana kind of horrible things.

Reason three) Because if I don’t sell a lot of kits, I can’t afford to buy one for myself, and above all, that is what would be the biggest travesty.

But the clock is ticking.

While tomorrow might be now, the day after tomorrow will be tomorrow, and before we know it, we’ll be in the future.

I’m afraid by then it will be too late.

    Used to put a piece of tape on the bottom of the cat’s foot. Hours of fun. And he still let me feed him.

    You made the kit blue again, and for that I thank you. Please remember my efforts when you go to Tijuana.
