Namaste, you big dummies.

It’s as if Fred and Lamont are saying “we honor the peace in you. Now here is a free hat.

I want to humbly thank any and all who took the time after reading Monday’s post to either sign the Net Neutrality petition, forward the post’s link, or both.

As I said in the comment section, as well as many times before when I worked for that other company, sometimes in order to avoid the bummer life, we have to meet it head on.

So for your consideration and understanding that I feel the need to occasionally use this platform for other matters aside from bikes and tennis balls, I am forever grateful.

Now, as we get on with the whats nots, because it’s never not cross season, here’s some Frenchie Le Frenches out getting all ‘oui oui’ and portaging on their drive sides;

I do enjoy me some good slow mo.

I would now like to take a moment to roll out the proverbial carpet for some kinda upcoming events that some or all might like to write down in their day planners.

The first being from Dino;

Hey Stevil,

Proceeds to benefit the Sacramento Valley Velodrome Association.

In 2011, the Sacramento Valley Velodrome Association began their quest to build a national competition quality bicycle racetrack, or velodrome, in the Sacramento area. “Building a community-based cycling center where folks can throw their leg over a $200 rental bike will bring cycling back to the people. I can’t think of a better spokesman to highlight this effort than Nelson Vails,.” –said me, Executive Director of the Sacramento Valley Velodrome Association.

Or you can paraphrase and make shit up like:

“Dino is preparing to stick it to The Man, one inner city kid at a time!”

Cheers
~Dino

I’m all for celebrating this one of a kind hero, and I’m all for sticking it to The Man.

Truly two great tastes that go great together.

Then, just a piece down May’s road, there’s gonna be a freakout in Ft. Collins, Colorado that’s gonna be brought to us by Swobo Enterprises;

You know who’s gonna be there, swinging fists and getting pissed?

That would be none other than yours truly.

But even more notably, will be super special guest of honor, my dear chum, Eugene Paul Oberpriller, shown here along side two other legends, PB, and Mr. Blacksocks;

It promises to be a good time, where the highest of Portland High Fives will abound.

And while we’re talking about EPO, we all no doubt have seen the video of Lance Armstrong fixing a flat, and then the one that followed of Greg Lemond fixing a flat.

It should be noted, that these two pros came in second and third place behind the only how-to video that’s worth a damn;

Clearly, neither of the aforementioned pros listed the fourth, and most important item needed when fixing a flat;

That canned beverage makes me think of something though, and that something is that in six weeks, the 2014 W.S.A.T.U. celebration is occurring;

You know what almost killed me?

Last year almost killed me;

But that doesn’t mean that like the good athlete I am, I haven’t been putting in a lot of hard work training to make this year an even greater success.

Dirty Randy, Sally, an array of other Hodala dirtbags and I had made a solid plan to go to visit Dirty Randy’s parents in Detroit, but wouldn’t you know that Paul Price and Gnarly Marley are getting hitched on that very weekend. So it’s bitter sweet that I will not be in the big D, but rather, alternating between cliff jumping, river swimming, and riding some of the best singletrack the state has to offer.

Detroit will be next year, but for now, it’s mountain sister town will do just fine.

Now, as I prepare to turn off the computer and put some pants on, I’ll leave you with a correspondence from Jon regarding a new project he’s undertaken;

Good Morning Stevil,

I’m writing to let you know that I’ve taken over the importing of Singular Cycles for North America. This is quite exciting as I’ve always loved fine steel bikes.

Singular is offering framesets that help people build sweet steel frame bikes at a reasonable price yet still have a high end/performance feel without the dent to the bank account. Singular has the following models;

-Puffin (Fat Bike)
-Rooster (29+)
-Gryphon (Drop bar 29er)
-Swift (29er)
-Osprey (Road)
-Kite (Cross)
-Buzzard (Trail orientated 29er)

We are doing some sweet pre-order deals on our 29+ model right now that end May 1st. Stupid sweet deals. We’re also doing an order of Gryphons at a sweet pre-order price as well;

More on our site.

Thanks in advance for sharing. We’re (me) a small one man operation with an intern who’s currently happy with free pizza and old bike parts for payment, and friends who oddly miss working for pizza/beer. Any help you can be, well, it’d be much obliged.

-Jon

So perhaps Jon’s project might pique some folks’ interest, or perhaps it won’t. We’re all delicate flowers with unique tastes all to our own.

What one person might love, the next simply might not.

Except for free hats.

Everybody loves free hats.

    Great video on changing a flat, but I don’t understand why the beverage was not slammed quickly at the beginning?
