Just sit back and relax.
From garbage standing to grass laying in a few short days.
You’ll be asleep before we’re done.
Like I said the other day, whenever that was, I had an array of ever-morphing family stuff to attend to, and though I missed out on the Mission Workshop opening party celebrating their brand new Valencia Street location, I was able to swing by there on Thursday to slap a few hands and drink a couple cans;
I jammed by about a month ago to say hello, and I was quite taken with the new space even then. I’m very happy for the good people from MWS, and certainly if you find yourselves at any point lurking about San Francisco’s Mission District, do yourself a favor and breeze in for a hello.
While the Mission Workshopians were busy readying the space for the celebration, my pops and I were in the Northlands, mucking about and killing time. In a burst of inspiration, I called Soulcraft Sean and said “hey- my pops and I are mucking about and killing time. Can we come by to say hello?”
He immediately replied with “well, right now’s not very good… I’m super busy.”
So I said “OK COOL WE’RE JUST DOWN THE ROAD I’LL SEE YOU IN A SEC!”
Not only were we treated to an opportunity to poke around the shop and have a visit with Sean;
-but Ross happened to be home as well, and showed off a custom pedal steel he just finished building from scratch;
Upon parting ways with those two cats, my dad and I both agreed that we’re not nearly as smart or patient as we thought we were.
Now, with my parents in town, my schedule was a bit topsy-turvy. I was supposed to be up north on Saturday night but at the last minute, those plans got kiboshed, and I ended up in Santa Cruz at the holiday party of the company by the same name;
It had been some years since I had attended one of their year-end bashes, (seven I think), but the vibe was the same as it ever was, and a pleasant time was had by us all;
Before I left, I checked out the conference room’s dry erase board;
It was a super nice dry erase board.
It was a night filled with blurry good times, and I documented almost none of it.
Finally, in closing I feel compelled to note that there are just like, thirteen days left to get your order in for the 2015 AHTBM stretchy bikecycle riding suit;
Just like every year, the kits are gonna be made right here in America by the fine folks at Voler, but unlike in years past, these kits are going to smell better than ever before.
Do what you gotta do to make it happen, so I can, if even for a short while, sit back and relax.
Great day, part of a wonderful visit.
Dad
I think my exact words were, “It’s not just your dad? You’re coming too? Um yeah, I’m super busy.”
AHTBM is just like what I imagine a blog by DLR would have been like, back in the day when he was enamored with rock climbing.
Rock star life-style mingled with fun, outdoorsy stuff.
That’s the highest praise imaginable. Thank you.
i’m glad yer having new kits cuz the ones last year “ARE THE UGLIEST KITS I’VE EVER SEEN! thank you
