Piecing up the pieces.

crab_bottle_top

Ah, here we are at yet another week’s end.

That feels pretty good to say, mostly because on Saturday and Sunday I tend to nap twice a day, instead of just once.

So hey, here’s a topic we’ve broached once or twice, but most recently here– The new/old/new Olympia beer is back, and after enjoying a few the other evening with The Dirtbag, I’m happy to say they are in fact back to their original formula and once again, all is right with the world;

You might not have clicked on that link up there, but I encourage you to, if only to recount and fully understand how badly I disliked the Oly in the orange can.

The short version was a lot.

Not only are my people (Virgos) averse to change, but we tend to be fairly sensitive to the horrible qualities of malt liquor. Or it might be due to the fact that I un-ironically drank an awful lot of that garbage in the early 90s, and probably killed the portion of my pancreas that makes the enzymes responsible for breaking it down.

If I didn’t pass the biology portion of today’s post, it’s because I went to art school.

We have a bit more mumbo jumbo in the mail bag today, as well as some business stuff, so let’s get to work on sorting some of that out.

Firstly, after July’s show of Anthony Tafuro’s photographs, I have wound up with a very short selection of his hardbound books featuring a photo exposé on BC’s Barrier Kult;

BAKUbook3
BAKUbook2-1
I don’t know about y’all, but my coffee table/bedside table was itching to have the addition of this pulp, and it is a favored go-to on early mornings when I’m sitting in a comfortable chair day dreaming about being able bodied.

If you’d like to get one of the last four in stock, please head over here and do what your heart tells you.

Now, for no reason at all, amy favorite clip of one of the toughest, most bad ass, and brilliantly brilliant women on the face of my world;

Do yourself a favor and go down the PJ Harvey rabbit hole. It’s one of the best things you could do for yourself.

I don’t have many regrets, as I think they’re a waste of time, but one that constantly sears a hole in my heart was not taking the opportunity to Polly Jean at San Francisco’s Slim’s when I had the chance in 1992.

I’ve kicked myself with such ferocity and for so many years, my shins are bloodied pulps, and powdered bone;

She hurts my heart.

In news of bike races for any and all near the Bay Area, Kurtz came though with a bit of info regarding one;

S,

Hope all is well.

Attached flyer is shameless plug, if you’re posting again before Saturday;

There are a lot of room for shenanigans out there in that plot behind the Sea Breeze Market, and pretty good snacks inside of it, so if you have a penchant for bike tom foolery, or deep fried sea life and potatoes, plan a trip over to Berkeley this weekend.

Moving on to other topics, Sean from Soulcraft sent some process shots from his friend Shepherd’s latest excursion into complete mania;

Back in my racing days, my Amigos and I would upholster our saddles with Crown Royal bags, and fake leopard fur. All we needed for that though were scissors, and a hot glue gun.

Shepherd’s efforts are clearly on a whole ‘nother level.

And moving on to other product news, Hurl made with the contact regarding CRC mittens;

SK!

Bummed that you weren’t in Santa Fe for the dirt-biking/wedding-hijnix in Santa Fe last weekend. We shredded in your honor for two days on the Winsor Trail. Gene should have posted the same picture like 18 times now. Would you mind mentioning the impending glove shortage, which can be assuaged by pre-ordering some of these fine CRC x GIRO DND paw covers?;
crcgloves
They should be in stock by end of next week, and will ship out directly. Did I mention there is FREE SHIPPING in the USA?

All my best,

-Hurl

PS. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for impending Homie info. xo.

And thus concludes our journey through the banal.

Did we cover…

Hermet crabs? Check.
Beer? Check.
The BA.KU.? Check
PJ Harvey being awesome? Check.
Outlaw cross races? Check.
Saddle customization? Check.
Dirt/non-dirt bike riding gloves? Check.

Now all’s that left to do is crawl back in our shells, (or bottle), and wait for Monday.

    i saw PJ play in a former airport outside of Munich on that tour and it was insanely incredible.
    I still love that record, though the production is so soft/loud that it’s hard to listen to it at the right volume. Oh, Albini!

    PJ Harvey is/was the shit. Still have Rid of Me on cassette circa 1994. She toured in that era but never saw her play live. It was an interesting time as far as music goes, the bass. Same era, the Melvins 1996. I’m an old guy.

    I guess I was lucky on the Polly Jean front. I grew up about two towns up the road and she regularly played warm up gigs before touring. Her, Massive Attack and Portishead were our local music legends.
