Shaking out the sheets.

loversden

In the last few days worth of jibber jabber, my various inboxes have become full with a more random array of fodder than usual, and because to some degree or another, it’s a bit time sensitive, I’m going to turn over the entire proverbial bucket, scoop it up, throw it at the wall and see what sticks.

You might wanna strap in because it’s sure to be a nauseating ride.

First of all, and on the chance I hadn’t posted this before, here’s a baby pig wearing a little jacket made from an old AHTBM ‘Blackweiser’ sock;
baby pig

From here we have nowhere to go but down.

Last week I was notified that a bicycle messenger for Dash Delivery named Steve (who also happens to be a homie of a homie) lost all of his worldly possessions in a house fire. Thankfuly he made it out with his well being, and his bike, but little else, Said mutual homie made with the contact and a link for a fund raiser page for any in our realm who might have a spare five or ten spot to toss at him and help him get back on his feet.

The good lord knows if such a fate were to befall any of us, a little bit of community support would go a long way.

Likewise, Bay Area super photographer Pamela Palma is looking for assistance in bringing her dear aging parents to America from their native Chile for her to take care of them, and ultimately in finding, and funding a suitable home for senior care.

This is a huge undertaking, and while she’s generated enough money for their flights to America, she still has a long way to go. If any of this strikes a chord, and you had some funds to spare, her page can be found here;

I realize that many of us see crowd sourcing as yuppie panhandling, and in a lot of instances this is true. However I look at at least these two instances as situations that any of us could easily find ourselves in, and a little bit of support from those with whom we share this trench would mean a great deal.

Moving on from friends and family in need to friends and family who speed, my ace bud Shannon who owns Brushy Mountain Bicycles out there in Wilkesboro, North Cackalacky recently turned me on to his nephew Nathan who has just been featured in the following video, which just oozes flow;

Hmmm… It would seem as though the young St. Clair has himself some chops.

And just so we’re clear- When I ride, that’s exactly what it looks like to me in my own mind.

And if it’s bicycle and bicycle related nonsense you’d like to read about, have you been keeping tuned in to the Instagram feed of Giant Bicycles’ sometimes mustached pro Carl Decker?

He and not at all moustached Kona Bicycles pro Barry Wicks have spent the week riding down the Golden State en route to this weekend’s Triple Crown Race;
barry
barry and carlsbike
They’ve been knocking out 100 plus mile days, battling the elements, stomach bugs, and fatigue, and has been a pleasure to not be a part.

I asked Carl for some intel, but he said he was plotting a piece for a magazine at some point, so we’ll just have to wait and eventually read about it together.

Certainly a part of me longs for such an adventure, but I’d prefer far more time in which to do such an undertaking.

Good on those two tall drinks of water for pulling it off though, and I look forward to the eventual release of all the dirty details.

In other news, Lucho from Alps and Andes made with the contact with a video that might be of interest to any and all who like piña coladas, or really for that matter, getting caught in the rain.

As long as it’s a black, black rain.

(Which apparently we had to act fast on, as it’s already been removed.);

Oh well.

So guess in this instance, we’ll just circle around to an old favorite;

Rolling along to nowhere, as we often do, I’ll now direct your attention to a photo I posted the other day on the Instantgrahams, the caption for which turned out to be a nice little metaphor for life;
curbjob
You don’t give it enough gas, you’ll just bumble along next to the curb, or stop dead against it. Too much, and you’ll overcook it and probably end up with at least a couple of shinners, and maybe some dirty pants. That little sweet spot between falling down and falling down is like a hammock for your soul.

Ain’t it just the truth though?

Of course I would be remiss to at this point not make mention that the supply of the AHTBM/NWVSF decks is dwindling rapidly;
ahtbmboards
Like, I think I’m about down to ten.

If you would like to procure on for yourself, please do so by going here.

I can promise, at least until your first hearty slam, that you won’t be sorry.

I would also like to note that I got a stack of brand new stickers in the store which you might or might not care about;
Toodumb
It’s a true story.

And it maybe doesn’t need to be said but my plan to sell a million stickers and become a millionaire isn’t really coming along.

Finally, I’d like to let folks know who might have ordered the Hairy Stuntman shirts that I made my way to the big city of San Francisco yesterday and retrieved the order from the screen printer;
hairystuntmanshirts
I then brought them home to bag them, and prepare them to go out to all the patient folks who along with their hairy chests, have been waiting.

Anyway, with that handled, I’ve gone down my list and I think I’ve covered all the garbage I had to cover for today.

At this point, it’s clear that no amount of sheet-shaking is going to clean up this disaster of a room, and all that’s left to do is cut our losses and burn the whole thing down.

    re: yuppie panhandling… in the past few years i have thrown a couple thousand bucks toward good friends facing cancer, theft, home loss and other hardships. at the same time, i am now at the point where i am staring at a grim ass rape by the tax man, an aging mother in mexico, and a medical/insurance/big pharma ponzi scheme here in the states that makes visiting the doctor feel like a real horrible violation every single fucking time.

    so anyway, i think about the good friends who have gone through the wringer, and had the help of crowdfunding moments to get them over the hump, and while ego and pride make me leery of doing anything like that myself (until the shit REALLY hits the fan), i think it’s fucking awesome. here we are in a time when the middle class is vaporizing while the fraction of a percent at the top gets even richer, where the poor are running out of any empathic or socially valuable options for care or relief, and when things get bad, social media allows people who care to show they care in whatever manner they feel comfortable with. it’s maybe the best thing about social media. like an anti-selfie stick.

      Amen to all of that.

    Steve of house fire fame is such a solid guy. This misfortune couldnt have happened to a nicer guy, but thats how it usually goes right? Very awesome and uplifting to see people coming together from all over the place to throw a buck his way.

    I used to race (er, pay money to get my ass handed to me) with Nathan St. Clair’s dad, Evan back in North Cackalacky.. I can say, without a doubt, that they’re some really awesome folks. Glad to see the apple didn’t fall far from the tree at all.
