Remember back on Friday when I mentioned that not only was I unsure what day it was then, but I was also a little unclear as to when I was taking off for this year’s Paul Component Engineering media camp?

I hear there is such a thing as an electronic calendar that exists on my pocket computer which would potentially alleviate my random bouts of confusion, but if the paper calendar right next to my desk doesn’t do the trick, I suspect no amount of technology will help.

So anyway- As I stand here before you (so to speak), I am upright on two legs so badly battered by throwing my weight upon them on top of two separate double sided curbs in two separate skateboard related mishaps that I can barely see straight, let alone stand that way. I think the proper hashtag is #ThankyouSkateboarding, but at this stage in the game I’m offering primary thanks to epson salt baths.

With that being said I’m gonna bang out a few words and photos before I make like a banana, and get out of here in an attempt at riding a bike for a couple of days.

Firstly, and most importantly, it was through David I came to learn that on the third weekend of this month (ironically exactly one month before the 2017 WSATU train wreck), in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the film’s initial release, select theaters will be showing ‘Smokey and The Bandit’;

Y’all can have your Star Wars nerd-fests. This is where the action’s gonna be.

Then, from Ethan the main mouth piece for Breadwinner Cycles, I got a heads up regarding some goods they’ve just foisted onto the world;

Look at how happy Ira is in that shot. Certainly that wouldn’t be his response when finding out I got the notification out three days late, but I’m nothing if not consistent.

In other news coming out of Portland, I received word from Aaron Edge regarding a show of photographs he has cracking, the opening for which is just day after tomorrow.

For the sake of full disclosure, the copy was in the form of a gallery mailer, but for the sake of fluidity, I changed it to read in the first person;

I’ve been creating art and taking photographs since the mid-80s, have art directed for magazines, weekly newspapers, record labels, small design firms as well as designed at Wieden+Kennedy. This photography show, made up of 72 separate 4×6 postcards, showcases the my interest in grainy, high contrast black and white imagery;





Each piece, sold for only $10 (with proceeds given to the Portland Bike MS chapter), can then be sent ’round the world, reminding folks that MS awareness is on our minds and help is in our hearts.

I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in March of 2013, since then have struggled with both creativity and mobility. This is my first solo art show in over 20 years.

This beast was made for him by Cameron ‘Punk Ass Kid’ Falconer, and features more California made goodies than you can shake a stick at.

I’ve heard it referred to as the Kalifornia Klunker or some such jazz, but I prefer to refer to it simply as ‘The Luddite’s Delight’.

Because skids are for kids, if I get my hands on it, I’m gonna do my best to put at least a couple bald spots on the rear tire.

If not, which now at this point, I probably won’t, I’ll just pretend that I did.
