Are you picking up what I’m laying down?

As I stand before you today, I will now squeeze out some odds and ends for you to pick up, or do with what you will.

First things first is this here clip of dirt bike magic making by Brandon Semenuk that I was turned on to by none other than Joe Parkin (Has Nice Hair);

Conjuring up images of myself hobbling along the trails behind a walker, in comparison, I’ve never ridden a mountain bike before in my life.

Having unloaded that little slice of wonderment, let’s get on to other matters.

It’s with a heavy heart that I bid farewell to an individual that whether you know it or not, had some influence or another on just about every single aspect of the bicycle world we enjoy today- Mr. Fluvio Acquati;

Having had a hand in Campy, Cinelli, Deda, and Bianchi, his mark was indelible.

Upon our initial meeting a decade ago, he immediately offered me a hug, followed by an Italian operatic serenade.

He truly was one of a kind, and all who had the good fortune to have crossed paths with him are better off for it.

Dog speed, amico. We’ll slap again hands when we do.

Moving on from goodbyes to an old friend, to hellos to new ones- it was in the midst of a drunken record playing session during my last month’s visit to Long Beach when my host laid a platter on the turn table that in turn laid me flat on the floor.

I’d not heard of the band previous to the evening in question but they’ve been firmly entrenched in my head and heart since.

Open up your ear holes, and devour the big, badass sounds of The Budos Band;

Is this old news? I have to wonder if I’m late to the game.

This is usually the case, so I apologize if I’m telling you something you already know.

For the rest of yinz, you’re welcome. Now, do what comes naturally, and go out and engage in a 1970’s style car chase.

They’ve got three dates in Colorado towards the end of next month, so if you happen to be in the neighborhood, you know what to do.

Moving on to other topics, it was from my old messenger buddy Gary Youdaking that I received this;

Dear Stu.

I saw this on craigslist and thought of you.“;

Remember when Homer stumbled upon his own likeness on the Mr. Sparkle box?;

Short of coming across an image of Mr. Satan before I knew who Mr. Satan was;

I suspect this is pretty much how Homer felt.

Am I a Japanese super hero? Am I a creepy sailor clown? I don’t even know anymore.

One thing I am almost positive is that I’m a bike blogger douchebag (same diff), and not a very good one at that. In light of this, I’ve dispatched Evil Cycling’s Captain Dave to an event occurring in Portland on this very day. It seems as though Floyd Landis and Dave Zabriskie will be making their way to town in order to pimp the Floyd’s Of Leadville line of CBD supplements;

There will be a ride on which Captain Dave will be present, and then an after party/product launch at River City Bicycles. Since I won’t be there to get the goods, the Captain has agreed to do the heavy lifting for me, which Dog willing, and no creeks rise, should be available for consumption in Friday’s post.

Being one who is almost never not in some sort of pain, I’m quite interested in CBD’s and their magical pain relieving properties. Not being a grasser myself, I never looked towards weed for anything aside from creating an insatiable hunger for cookie crumble ice cream and BBQ flavored potato chips.

Rumor has it that in time I might get the opportunity to try some of Floyd’s product line, and rest assured, should that come to pass, I will provide all of the dirty details here.

If you happen to be in Portland, and are curious about what they’re bringing to the table, swing by the shop this evening for a full rundown.

Lastly, before we part ways, I will include the recently released, (and possibly Michael Bay directed) promo video for the 2018 CMMC which has been bid to potentially be held in Riga, Latvia;

I can’t read the website, but there’s a Facebook page with additional information.

Having watched the video three times, and counted a total of four women(s) depicted, I was inclined to echo the first video commenter’s sentiment as well;

Perhaps there are no women(s) who ride the bikecycles in a messengering capacity in Riga, or perhaps there are, but the clip was just edited to show that they are also good at roasting marshmallows;

-And stand in the crowd to watch the inter tube tug-of-war;

Whatever the case, it’s good to know that women(s) also have a place in the messenger style bicycle rodeo.

If you are one who has an interest in such events, keep tuned to their digital home for further developments so as to pick up what they lay down.

Now, with the conclusion of today’s effort at hand, I will do what comes naturally, and just simply lay down.

Spread this like it's sick

    Thanks for the ear worm. Now I have a desire to wear bell bottom jeans and a shiny polyster shirt of varying stripe colors on a tan baackground.

    Budos Band came out of Brooklyn and is the part of the group that backs Charles Bradley with a funkiest groove sounds that he fronts. Mike D plays keyboards and is a professional drinker, if you ever need a hit just grab one of his cups!! The whole group of Budos plays across a variety of different bands, as horn sections, drum/percussion, piano/keyboards, etc. They do it all!!

    Better late than never on the Budos Band. Go back and check out the previous releases. If they come near your neck of the woods, go see them. You wont be disappointed
