Another day, another chance to spend it in isolation.

Firstly, let me start by saying the United States senators who voted for the train wreck of a tax plan can 100% suckit;

Though to be fair, “(1) dugwnnaur ten the caie of an ellgibh tuminated S. coporation amy increase in thx under this chaptr by uaxon of a adjustmint uguiu (etc.) is pretty self explanatory.

Anyway, like most folks who actually work for a living, I’m profoundly dismayed by recent developments, and I can’t help but wonder if this is the band playing as the ship sinks.

But, (and I always like a but), we’re not here to wring hands or bemoan the collapse of democracy. We’re here to discuss, and cavort, and celebrate. Just such a topic that is worth all of that is regarding the following image I posted on Friday;

I wanted to believe that such an exchange took place out there somewhere, but thanks to an astute reader, as it turns out, the truth is almost just as weird;

I love Messi.

Like, a lot.

Loving things is good. Loving things gives to reason to get out of bed in the morning, and go about your day during which time you hopefully get to engage in said things. Riding bikes, spending time with family and friends, burying your face in the neck of your fuzzy buddy and inhaling, listening to music, shotgunning beers, napping… These are all things I love, and offer me solace in a world gone mad.

Another thing I love is playing in a dirty parking lot.

As I was taking a pee the other day, I was reflecting on how my reclaimed adoration for skateboarding might appear to someone on the outside, (notably the audience of this website). It was never not a thing I loved, but up until three years ago wasn’t a thing I engaged in with much regularity. Of course I would periodically include links or videos to noteworthy items, but aside from that, in recent years I hadn’t spent much time on one aside from an occasional quick trip to the liquor/candy store.

Does this reclaimed love seem disingenuous?” I wondered to myself. It’s my hope that it doesn’t. It truly was a building block to my eventual life in bikes, and a component and flavor I try to extend to how I exist among the industry. Now, as I close in on my late 40s, I love it as much as I ever have before, and am positively thrilled that I have re-established a body that favors it.

I am but a (late) spring chicken in comparison to those I admired as a lad, and what with the advent of social media, am closer to them, their daily activities, and milestones than ever before.

Case in point is the recent 53rd birthday of the captain of the S.S. Black Label, Mr. John Lucero;

If I were to have a visual epitaph upon my departure from this big blue marble, I would hope that the above video will in some way be a part.

Lastly, it’s my sworn duty to notify any and all that on this very day, I’m bringing two rolls of burgundy wool to my sew shop today in order to begin cracking on the next and final run of long sleeved woolies;

These too will be embroidered with the KVLT logo, but in a basic attempt to photoshop one up, I came up short, so for now you’ll have to use your imagination.

*Scratch that. In an 11th hour plea to Snakehawk he made color adjustments and I was able to drop it in for use as an ‘artist’s rendering’;

You like apples?

I assume you have one of those imagination things anyway, and current events haven’t completely squashed it from your being?

If not, then just crawl back into your isolation ball and we’ll try again on Wednesday.

Spread this like it's sick

    At my last job, I used to get in early & ride my long board around the parking lot, (yes, I never had a skateboard in my youth so got into this late), Had a staff member drive in & ask me “shouldn’t you be wearing a helmet?” My “Yes Mom” response did not go down well.

    I’m 62 by the way.
