Killing time.

While it could be argued that we waste precious existence here on the site, in my estimation, it only takes someone three to five minutes to get through each post, and in the last eight years, at three minutes per, if someone has actually read all 1,594 posts, they’ve wasted less than just 96 hours of their lives.

That’s not too bad when compared to how much time someone spends looking in a refrigerator for food when there’s none, on hold with their cable provider, pretending to poop when in fact you’re just looking at Instagram, etc.

And what’s more, I feel like I provide some slight service here. Like, a sort of safety shelter for when the proverbial world is falling down around our ears.

Of course I also offer up real, live ways to waste your time as well, such as the annual WSATU celebration;

Undebike, the Hairnet Ride, various art shows, and what have you.

Most time wasteie of all however, of course is the annual Model Building Nerd-Off.

I was fixing to shelve the contest this year because I felt a general level of distraction by other components of life. So when I began receiving emails and other various forms of communication from folks who had an itch to lock themselves away from the outside world, and toil over the absurd, I had to oblige;

Unlike last year, and the year before, this year we won’t just be relegated to automobiles.

For those who’d care for a refresher, the last two year’s winners were KB from Portland’s Cat Six Bike shop;

And Master Brian Brooks;

Please note that I won’t be separating categories, because frankly, that’s too much work. It’s run what you brung, and build whatever you wanna build. As I noted on Instagram, the world is your oyster, and you can build a car, or a boat, or a robot, or a robotboatcar, and it’s from the bottom of my heart that I offer wishes for the best dork to win.

And speaking of killing time, I wasted most all of a dreary yesterday assembling the remaining blocks of the next and newest AHTBM fanzine;

I hope to have these available to go out with a new skateboard deck project I have in the works, but like with most everything I attempt, there is plenty of room for it to go off the tracks.

Luckily my boss is a flake who can’t find his ass with both hands, so we have room to maneuver.

I’m looking for the zine to be done in the next week or so, and everything to be ready to go out the door in about six weeks.

As always, if you want one, you should get one. If not, I have a few other goodies in the pipe that folks might have an interest in which I’ll be pulling the cover back on in the coming weeks.

And lastly, while discussing projects that are stuck in the mud, for any and all who pre-ordered one or more of the fuck around shirts;

-On Monday I received a heads up from my screen printer that Dog willing and no creeks rise, I should be able to pick them up towards the end of this week, or early next. Best case, I should be shipping them all out on Saturday morning. Worst case, I should be shipping them all out a week from Saturday morning.

With all of that business addressed, I will now cut the cord, and allow us yinzers to get back to killing time in the myriad of other ways in which I’m sure we’re all adept.

Spread this like it's sick
