If you need me, all you gotta do is call.

Well, as I said in this post, I couldn’t remember the gawldanged date of the gawldanged annual Wizard Staff party, so I booked myself some away time this weekend, instead of last weekend.

It’s not polite to point out when stupid people are being stupid, but I was being stupid.

So while all y’all are doing whatever all y’all are doing this weekend, I will be doing what most all y’all were doing last weekend.

Fair enough? Fair enough.

A couple of things real quick- One, I got a heads up from Cranpa of FBM Bikes about a real big bash he’s got cooking next month. While next month is still a ways away, for folks who might have an interest in what I’m about to lay out, it might take a bit of organization to make themselves be there.

That said, feast your eyes;

SK,

We are hosting an open house at FBM, with ramps, rails, riding and a frame building demo on Saturday July 21st, at our Headquarters in Ithaca Ny, Followed by a group street ride on Sunday the 22nd in Syracuse NY hosted By FBM Welder John Corts, and the Leeper Bros.

More info here;

Obviously we’d love to see everyone, although I understand it’s Short notice, could you possibly help spread the word?

Thanks a ton- Crandall/FBM

There is actually enough advanced warning that I might even make it out, but I doubt it, because last I checked, you still can’t buy plane tickets with magic beans.

But magic beans must have something to do with it, because otherwise, Cranpa wouldn’t still be able to rip as he does;

Now then- For those who’ve been paying attention, I’ve been going down the rabbit hole of random 4X4 RC stuff for a while.

It started when I first debuted the enigma known as Headquake back back in 2014;

Then, here and there I mighta posted a photo or a video featuring some cool stuff, specifically, getting first hand play time with some in Colorado last summer;

But the last couple of months have found me kinda losing my mind about it.

Not wanting to bathe alone in my shame, I of course was happy to hear from fellow wanna-be nerds like myself, or folks who’d already fallen headlong into the dark hole that are RC crawlers.

And even from Big Steve P who was not at all happy about inadvertently discovering the world of tiny trucks, as indicated in a late night text I received about two weeks ago;

You are a bastard. I just lost ten minutes of my life watching some guy walk nine miles in nine hours with a rock crawling RC truck, and now I’m thinking about buying one.

Thank god I leave for Hawaii tomorrow, where hopefully actual activity in the ocean will cleanse me of these unclean thoughts.

SP

If I’m gonna lose my mind over this nonsense, then by god, I’m not gonna do it alone.

I’ve wasted countless hours pouring over videos, reading reviews, and fantasizing about building up something special for myself.

Then it was through Rick Hunter that I discovered ANZAKA,and now, I am forever, and hopelessly screwed;

I’m laid flat.

I didn’t even know this was a thing, and now that I do, it’s all I can think about.

So wrap your mind around that for a couple of days, and when I return, we’ll all toast one another with our hotdogs, and wish for fewer nerdy days.

Spread this like it's sick

    Those Anzaka bodies are amazing. I really enjoy when somebody is so passionate about something that they’ll totally get next-level with their art.
    I fell down a rabbit-hole of vids and pictures of RC cars and customizers the other day, and saw some that were so realistic looking that depending on the perspective in the photos, you couldn’t tell that they weren’t actual cars and trucks. I can’t remember where I saw it, now, and I’m at work so I can’t dig too deeply for a link, unfortunately.

    WSATU ’18 part: The Second is shaping up nicely for this weekend. I’ve drank all the stragglers of last weekend’s beers to make room in the fridge for this weekend’s beers. (hard work, but I’m dedicated to the cause.)
    May your staffs be long, and your tape stick strong.
