I met Monk riding curbs in Seattle in ’88. He’s all, ‘yeah, man, that was rad, let’s go ride!’ Introduced me to Gallardo, showed me some new spots, it was a good day.
In retrospect, he was the least self-conscious person I’ve ever met. If he thought it was rad, it was, and he went for it. I’m glad to see that he uptook the Red/Burnside thang and made a difference by building parks for the rest of the world. RIP.
