Mail bomb.

If today’s post doesn’t get me on some watch list or another, then I just gotta try harder.

So before I crack open the mail bag, I have to loudly promote a wee bit of slightly disheartening news. Upon contacting my skateboard manufacturer yesterday, I came to find out that I won’t have the new Cher Strauberry decks until Wednesday. This fully scrubs the two launch dates I’d previously scheduled.

In light of this, I’m just moving them up a week.

The first release party will happen on December 8th at the Rockridge curb spot;

The only difference between this party and the first one I’d scheduled is that Tacos El Precioso was unfortunately already booked.

However the following Tuesday at Eli’s Mile High Club he will be there, and so will I;

Truth be told, I spoke with the manufacturer ten days ago and they told me that they had twenty decks to go and they’d be shipping.

Naturally, I took this to mean that OF COURSE I would be receiving them within two weeks of that phone conversation, so I went ahead and scheduled launch dates.

How’s that old adage from the sea go? “Assuming only makes an ass out of you? Not me though… Only you.

Something like that. Anyway, I expect as soon as the decks land (Wednesday the 5th I hear?) I will have a few shot and in the web store by at least some point the following day.

Now that I’ve addressed this monumental screw up (by anyone else but me), we’ll get cracking with a bit of mail bag goodness starting first from RoseMary over there at Portland Design Works;

Good Morning Stevil!

Oh man, I write you this as I can hear the sweet sound the forklift rumbling around the warehouse downstairs. Those pallets that Chris is pulling off the truck are the much coveted Road Plus Size, Full Metal Fenders! I can’t tell you how happy this makes me because this guy from London can finally stop calling us and asking when they’ll be here, because THEY ARE HERE! I’m actually going to miss that guy though, he only has nice things to say about PDW, and I like hearing the funny way he talks. I can tell by the sound of his voice that he’s a little bit ugly-handsome, which is the second best kind of handsome. So for the ugly-handsome guy in London, and all the other folks out there with 28mm tires who are begging for a really good looking, and perfectly functional set of full fenders, the time is now!

A clean fender line is some seriously satisfying stuff. I’m pretty positive I was born with gorilla fists, and I was still able to neatly install them on this lovely bike here:

Thanks a million,

RM

I will say that for the last couple of years I’e been using the Full Metal Fenders on my knock around bike and they have worked like a champ. I will also say that the Full Metal fenders replaced another set by a company who will remain unnamed (not SKS, because I love them too), that actually sucked up into my tire, stopping me dead, and nearly pitching me head first into oncoming traffic.

I repeat, wambly plastic fenders suck balls.

It happened to me, my co-worker KB, and a buddy of the head cheese at NHS, so it’s no isolated shenanigans.

Anyhoo, PDW puts their money where their mouths are, design and promote product that are aces all around, and are good folks to boot. Now that wet season is upon us, give them a holler hello.

Unrelated to keeping asses and feets in a dry state, Steve reached out with a flyer for a party his band is playing at. I have no idea where it is, or any of the details, but it was so goshdanged 1986 that I had to get a copy and share it here with you today;

Airwalk shoes? That is just glorious.

I don’t want to speak for Steve, but I think it would be a pretty safe bet that if you showed up with a twelver of Black Label in each hand for both of the birthday kids, you would probably be welcomed with open arms.

Lastly, and for no reason at all, I’ll show you a postcard I just paid a stupid about of money for on the eBays;

It wasn’t like, hundreds of dollars, but it was more than any reasonable person would pay for a piece of paper to be shipped to them through the mail, but I like it real well just the same.

Still, they could have at least included a timer.

Spread this like it's sick

    Good eye with the Airwalks. I like the Hosoi Hammerhead. With rails and tail plate.

    The reviews on Voler for your jersey are great, your friends are funny. I hope to pick one up as well. I sent Voler an anti-censorship email on behalf of the jersey. That’ll show’em.
