Some days you have the Midas Touch.

And some days you don’t.

Do you ever have one of these days where absolutely everything you touch goes up in smoke?

That was my yesterday, and conversely, precisely why there is little to no post here today.

Upon waking up, I stumbled into the kitchen and messed up some coffee. While doing so I spoke with my dad and found out that my mom was happily recovering from a recent knee surgery. It was then that Ike brought in a dead bird and shot feathers everywhere. I cleaned that up, and had a proper burial in the backyard;

-Only to find that this here website had crashed. I then spent two hours trying to resolve that, only to have it go nowhere. At that point I remembered that the driver’s side door handle on my truck had given up the ghost the night before, so I ran that down to the shop as I had no time to deal with it beyond the hour I spent in the rain prying the door panel off and assessing the malfunction by feel the previous evening.

Nearing the drug lab two hours late, I ran a stop light only to have a cop holler at me. I gave him a salute and he gave chase. In evading him, I ran six more stop signs, only to duck into the safety of the warehouse just in the nick of time.

After stripping off my sweaty clothes, I got cracking on what was to be my next eight hours manning a Pax filling machine, when a prohibitively expensive part suddenly snapped, and so my day went.

This left me with one hour here at my desk before I had to head back into San Francisco to drop my wife lady’s car off for her so she could deal with her own assortment of broken shit.

I’m reminded of a thing that writer Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn once famously said, “just as King Midas turned everything to gold, Stalin turned everything to mediocrity.

Likewise, I apologize for once again not being diligent about manning my post, but soon enough you’ll get used to me disappointing you, and we’ll only ever celebrate when I don’t.

Spread this like it's sick

    Possibly from Stalin as well, but Wiki says not sure – “Quanitity has a quality all its own.” Seems to fit to your day yesterday, though.

    A couple of other quotes that have been stuck in my head:

    “If the mountain were smooth, you couldn’t climb it.” -Unknown

    “Do not pray for an easy life, pray for the strength to endure a difficult one.” -Bruce Lee

    “The suspense is terrible…I hope it’ll last.” -Willy Wonka

    Hey homie,
    Sounds like you had a day. I bet today is already way better than yesterday. Or, quickly remember the shite one when you’re having an awesome day, to make the good one even awesomer. Or don’t.
