Just so we’re clear.
While perusing the back end of this very site this past weekend, I was disheartened to come across the following comment in regard to this ad I created for the Revolting podcast;
“The white supremacy symbol in The Revolting Podcast illustration leaves me confused & revolted.”
So there are no misunderstandings, I responded thusly;
“The ouroboros is a white supremacy symbol? Or the Zodiac Killer’s reticle symbol is? I too am confused.”
Assuming it was the latter, I continued;
No white supremacy association has ever been referenced in the usage by either the Zodiac himself, the FBI or SFPD agents who worked the case, Robert Graysmith who wrote what is arguably the most detailed breakdown of the mystery (and what was used as the foundation of the movie by the book’s same name), or the amateur code crackers who finally solved the cypher.
It might be that you’re unfamiliar with the story? I’m a lot of things, but one who erroneously promotes something as vile as white supremacy I am not.”
Over the last twenty years I’ve done an awful lot of armchair research regarding the Zodiac murders, and at no time did any of the books or articles I’ve read, documentaries I’ve watched, or podcasts I’ve listened to describe, mention, reference, or even hint to ties or motivations of any degree to white supremacy.
Maybe the commenter is new here? As my friend Mr. Blacksocks has said in the past, the tail of social justice is a long one, and the last thing I need is to be incorrectly labeled as a Nazi sympathizer simply because someone is unfamiliar with this mysterious series of sensationalized, and unsolved murders that took place in Northern California a half a century ago.
Are we on the same page now? I sure hope so. I appreciate the opportunity to clear the air, and as always, I thank you for your time and consideration on this matter.
Having handled that, I’d like to share one of my favorite new IG accounts, being that of Big Dumb Truck Club. The moderator of the account is whip-smart, and suffers no fools, which I appreciate.

Moving on I would like to broach the following topic.
Because this is my website, and a thing where I can talk about whatever it is I choose, right now I choose to blow my own horn.
I’ve mentioned it in other channels, but after 39 years of reading the magazine, the very newest issue of Thrasher has done me the most sincere of honors;
This is the wildest thing to see, and I can’t believe it actually happened.
If anyone would be interested in picking up a copy, it’s the April 2023 issue, and this feature not withstanding, it’s a real banger.
Now then- For those who were paying attention, you might recall hearing me mention that I was going to be facilitating a super small run of custom AHTBM x Doom vests in the not-so-distant future.
I had everything lined up to do a proper order window, but then people randomly started reaching out and asking to be put on the list, so here we are, and the initial production has already started;
At $400 each, they cost twice as much as the most expensive thing I’ve ever sold on this site, but every vest is custom made by hand for your own body, are constructed of Gore-tex, or some similar derivative, and will be obviously extremely limited in production.
And yes, again, I know they’re expensive. Don’t feel compelled to mention it, because I’m not the one who’s priced them, making them, or any of it. All I’m doing is facilitating the project for anyone who is interested. I understand and appreciate the efforts Doom put into his craft, and mentioning that you can get a sweatshop made jacket from Champ-Sys for far less does nothing but make you look like a chump, so don’t bother.
Having said that, please note that I no longer even have fifteen spots available. As of right now, I have two slots left.
Scratch that. This order window is shut, but I’d imagine if demand is high enough, we might do it again someday.
In closing, I will now present the brand newest episode of Revolting;
Right out of the gate Robot and I fell down the proverbial stairs with our pants around our ankles, but we finally figured out what we were doing, save for that annoying periodical crackling which neither of us can figure out.
Any potential insight on that front would be appreciated.
Anyway, besides that, it’s so good you won’t even need glasses.

Bicyclingmag is incorrect, any handgun carried by a cyclist should be made of stainless steel because of its resistance to corrosion.

fair question.
in more than a few instances, i most definitely would have drawn a firearm if i had one. in hindsight, i am glad i did not.
but make no mistake, more than one driver has attempted to hit me with their car (when it happens for real, you will know it was for real) or pretended to try to hit with their car (when it happens for pretend, you will not know it was for pretend) and my only defense would have been a firearm.
now, could i have wielded such successfully enough to avoid shooting myself or some innocent bystander? probably not. could they have pulled their own gun and shot me or the aforementioned bystander? for sure (as a note, these days i assume most everyone is packin’). did fuckers deserve to have a gun in their face? yes, they did.
to be honest, it is confusing. as such, i do not carry a firearm, nor do i intend to do so anytime soon. that being said, i do wonder if going “open carry” would have the desired psychopath-deterring effect. such fantasies the result of lived trauma, not doubt, but damns…

remember, they are trying to seriously hurt or even kill you. as the linked article suggests, this really happens.
i have been hit by a car. it was an “accident” in the sense that the driver effed-up and was not attempting anything other than satiating his lust for ‘burgers. my pelvis broke all the same. i am unbelievably lucky i was not hurt far more seriously.
in my state (wa) you can kill a cyclist and if you prove sober only receive a ~ $200 ticket. drivers know this.

For what it is worth: I have read your blog weekly for about 4 years and have listened to all of your Revolting podcasts [Great stuff!]. From what I have heard and read, it is pretty obvious to me that you are in no way right leaning and are a caring, open-hearted person (or you are a fantastic liar making me believe that. If so-Damn you!). I know that. Everyone who follows you knows that. But it is true that the cross with the circle around it is also used in the context of ‘white power’ (google ‘white power circle/cross’). I know that this was not your intention, and you are everything but that kind of human garbage. But those symbols do look extremely similar and people not familiar with the Zodiac killer may have no idea about other meanings of this symbol.
In that case, it’s up to us to aggressively continue spreading the legend of the Zodiac.
