All work and no play makes Jack something, something.

All work and no play makes Jack something, something.

Since we were last together, I literally feel as though I've been digging on the same hole. Is that possible? It certainly is, and while I can't complain about the abundance of additional work/income, I can certainly gripe about the exhaustion, and general malaise that is a result.

One thing is for sure- When society ultimately collapses, you know who will be sitting squarely in the middle of it with just a bit more cash to burn for warmth? This guy right here.

Speaking of cash to burn, our old pal Cory Blackwood and his Ritual Record Store certainly don't have it, so when a houseless fella in mental distress broke through one of his shop's windows the other day, it resulted in a financial burden he certainly could not afford;

Because the building owner and insurance have both turned their back on him, this particular shit is certainly rolling down hill and landing squarely in Cory's lap. If anyone would be interested in throwing a couple of bucks towards the cause, Michael started a crowd sourcing campaign right here

It's hard enough operating an independent brick and mortar business in this day and age without this sort of hassle. On behalf of Cory, I can say with certainty that he and his little crew of slab slinging ne'er-do-wells appreciate the boost.

At the moment of posting today's effort I think they mighta reached their goal, but Cory mentioned any money they receive over the cost of the window they plan to donate the a local mental health non-profit, so donate now, or donate later. It's still gonna be a win.

In news of scratching out a bit of pleasure in-between work efforts, I've mentioned a few times that a friend of mine was interested in building a tiny truck course in her front yard, and asked if I would like to help. Because I've lived a life that embraces play over all, I jumped at the chance. With every visit, I would being her a a rock or two, and over the last few months, we've picked up a whole bunched this weekend I got the chance to mostly put the final touches on the main course.

When it was initially was conceived over chicken wings, it looked like this;

Now, after some months of effort later, here it is today;

(Pardon the exposed bit of braided hose. It will be properly camouflaged by the time the news crews arrive). So, one of the bartenders I work with is an absolute delight of a human being and grew up in Louisiana (and also has a tiny truck, as does her girlfriend, as do several of her friends).

She said that when this fun zone finally gets spruced and spiffed, she'd like to do a crawdad boil/tiny truck invitational. Now... all I did was stack some rocks. I'm a nobody in this whole equation, but I'll be damned if a tiny truck/southern food freakout isn't just the thing that most all of my dreams are made of.

If playing with a tiny truck is a thing you might think would be enjoyable, there are options 'a plenty, but a very basic platform with and from which you can absolutely lose your mind is the SCX24 line from Axial. Come our inevitable national financial collapse, you'll be glad you have something to do to occupy your mind.
And if you'd like to watch a real nice person nerd the hell out about all this, and actually learn some things in the process, watch some of 24 Yep Tray's videos;
He's a good dude, and is a wealth of information for those of us who are not.

Anyway, maybe while we're on the topic of occupying our minds/wasting our time, could you guess that we have a brand new episode of Revolting?
And it's with that, I will bid you farewell so I can get on with my day of snowy murderous rampages.

In my city, Denver, we spend $80K per homeless person annually on homeless services. There has to be a middle ground between bouncing people who just need a place to rest and full permissive policies that allow people to use fentanyl and still have ZERO consequences for destroying people’s ability to build community and make a living. Two weeks ago I was attacked by a “blues user” while riding my bike home from work. Dude clocked me in the arm with a skateboard so hard I couldn’t use my hand effectively for a day or two. I’m a bike mech so that wasn’t great. Even though the assault was witnessed by law enforcement he was let out and now is down on the bike path everyday. That’s how I used get to work but now I have ride the oh so lovely road….the right is terrible the left has gone too far. There has to be a better way.
