Remember though, not a one of us are guaranteed another. I'd remind you to use your time wisely, but you're here, deaf ears gonna deaf.
So Hello, and welcome to the umpteen-thousandth post on the AHTBM 'blog'. 'Blog' is short for 'web log' which is something like an online diary filled with the author's hopes, dreams, plans, and schemes. It's basically the wave of the future and a thing you'll probably hear a lot about in the coming years.
First things first, I would like to wish well to my friend Tom who has finally graduated this life and gone onto whatever is next;
We shot this ad on the actual night we first met one another, and is a sweet memory for me. For those of you who've been in the trenches in the bike industry for a number of years, Tom was often found lurking around the
Deda Elementi trenches. I'm not entirely sure what he did there. Designed stuff? He was the shot caller? Perhaps he was an enforcer for the Deda Familia. One thing is for certain, he was one of the sweetest fellas you'd ever want to meet and it was an honor to have been able to know him.
If by chance you get out on any kind of bike ride today, be it a stretchy pants slog, or an around-the-town cruise, know that Tom will be along for it.
In other news, and in the wake of the newest Plosiv's record, Did you know
the Rick Froberg book is also now being shipped?;
I jumped on the pre-order as soon as I could, and have eagerly anticipated its arrival for months. For those perhaps not in the know, Rick was a force of nature lending both his musical skills to Pitchfork, Drive Like Jehu, The Obits, and The Hotsnakes, as well as his visual art skills to the aforementioned projects, and beyond;
To me, he was like a perfect amalgamation of Raymond Pettibon and Al Columbia;
If you're a fancy pants type who likes limited edition types of things, you can get a limited edition type of copy
here, which includes
a Giclée print of the artwork 'New Wave,' and the zine No Es Justo.
Do it before you can't.
Moving on- It was just this past weekend when after two back to back nights of adult babysitting when against my better judgment I traveled to Seattle to take part in a memorial shitshow for our buddy The Beard, and despite the fact that I was so tired I thought I was going to die, I'm so glad I went;
The four takeaways for the event were that friends are pretty great, avoid Buzz Balls at all costs, keep Joey away from anything resembling gas or fire, and don't put your helmet too close to either.
Now, as I do at the end of everyone of these efforts the last couple of years, here's the newest episode of Revolting;

Like stands through the hour glass, or time from our fingers, so go the days of our lives.

Yes, Tom was the sweetest guy even under that gruff look and always had some wisdom to offer. I think of him every time I uncrate and build a new bike.
