New day, new us.

Every day is a new day to be reborn, so why not lean in to that today?
First things first, let's talk about van life for a second. I'm not talking about it in the contemporary sense, mind you. I mean in the 'if this van's a'rockin', don't come a knockin' sort of way.
Some folks might recall shortly before my departure from the Bay Area, I fell hard in love with this number I began seeing in West Oakland;
In fact, ever since I was a little kid Ive had an affinity for lifted vans which probably began with this Bob Haro drawing;

And I suppose to some extent, the SE bus;

I'd recon muscle car conversions check those same boxes for me as well;

Anyway, a few years ago I found a '68 Chevy 4x4 conversion that I was fixing to sell my truck to buy until a close friend noted I might want to keep my truck so I'd have something to tow the van with, and that $4,000 would be the best $10,000 I'd ever spent.
So alas, I remain without a van, but that didn't stop me from going to a Rolling Coffins Van Club event this weekend to lay some eyes on some of their finest;

Though Poo Shoe Joe still hasn't implemented my suggestion onto his;
I didn't really put on my documentarian hat so the photos ended up being pretty limited, but you get the idea. There was an award ceremony, at which I'd hoped a trophy with no van on it would be presented to me, but alas, as usual, it was for not.
So in short, vans are cool, I always kinda wish I had one, and all of this reminds me that at a time, I also briefly considered buying this one;
But this isn't an internal combustion weblog about vehicles affectionately named things like 'Vanzig', and 'Van Is The Bastard'. This is a bicycle and bicycle adjacent type of weblog and I should 'stick to bike' so I guess we'll move on.
Primarily Id like to announce that I finally put my new King cages back on my whip, a new stack of which I believe I made note of in this post;
They really are the best cages one can buy with whatever money one has left over after a trip to the strip club.
I'd also like to briefly mention that I took this photo just moments after getting my right foot caught by a downed tree on the side of the trail which shitwhipped me to the ground with such force that my bars, brake lever, and saddle all needed to be readjusted;
Thankfully no toes were broken, and I'll probably live to crash another day.
Gravity, man. She can sometimes be a real cruel mistress.
Finally, as this viking's funeral raft drifts off into the horizon, I'll offer the newest episode of Revolting;

We did it again.
While I'm thinking about it, if there's a topic that Robot and I haven't covered, that folks would be interested in hearing us jabber on about, send up a flair. Robot's real good with the words and I am not so if anyone wanted to help me help us, I'm all ears.
And it's with that, feel free to stick a fork in your third eye 'cause we're done.

Maybe a Lunchbox would scratch the van itch?

I’ve been thinking about one of these myself.
