The wettest of blankets.

The wettest of blankets.

Somebody help me understand just exactly what the fuck is going on?

The mental gymnastics I've done for the last several days to figure out just how or why anything about HWCBN is appealing has my brain meat sprained in ways I never before knew possible.

What I keep coming back to is this is the most widespread and insidious case of Stockholm Syndrome in all of human history, and without pause can absolutely guarantee that we are all, every single one of us, going to suffer in some form or fashion in the wake of these developments.

Three things that have given me solace however is that (as I've learned through NPR), for the first time, women will hold a majority of the seats in Minnesota’s congressional delegation with four Democrats and one Republican among them: 2nd District Rep. Angie Craig, 3rd District Rep.-elect Kelly Morrison, 4th District Rep. Betty McCollum, 5th District Rep. Ilhan Omar and 7th District Rep. Michelle Fischbach;

Along with U.S. Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith, this means there are seven women to the three men in Minnesota’s federal delegation.

From where I sit, that's gangster as shit.

The second is watching the various communities in North Carolina band together and help in every single way to recover and begin to rebuild after last month's devastating storms.

They're relying on themselves and each other because the federal government can't be.

 And finally, Sarah McBride has officially been elected to the U.S. House of Representatives;

This is huge news, and for all of the heaviness in the every day news cycle, it's developments like these that give me hope, and bring to mind a quote I quite like from Margaret Mead which I've referenced here often;

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."

I don't actually worship Satan (I tend to not believe in inventions of Christianity), but I respect the hell out of women.

By the way, I realize I'm running low on the WSRW soft goods. My screen printer had a small electrical fire in their shop, and while they're cleaning up that mess, I got on board with a new print shop right here in town with a fella who actually had a video editing studio right across the hall from my current studio. He's on the task, and seems very grateful that I text him once a day to see if my order is done yet.

And just for old time's sake, I dusted off this little photoshop project I made eight years ago in hopes of manifesting a reunion;

As of the time that I published today's post, my people still have no word on of that's happening or not.

Jesus. Everything just makes my stomach hurt so much.

As a brief aside and distraction, I'll post an email I got from a fella called Little Brett regarding a recent event I sponsored which reads like so;

"Stevillion,

What a success! The Halloween bike polo tournament is getting rave reviews, and we are so thankful for your support and sponsorship. Your generous donation has made a tremendous impact on our little club and we would like to express our sincere appreciation for your dedication to bike polo. I do not know who received the shirts but I will find them. I wanted them and I deserve them.

Your kindness and support enabled us to provide prizes for those that participated and it means the world to us. As we continue to grow as a club, we hope you will continue to be part of Bellingham Bike Polo’s journey and we look forward to seeing you at future events.

I attached a few photos of the event, and here’s an article written about the weekend:

Thank you again for your loyal and generous support! I really appreciate all that you have done for the bike community, in general. You usually have an excellent mindset, and it's rad.

Sincerely,
Brett Lott"

I appreciate Brett making with the contact. I don't have a lot of bandwidth and finances for event sponsorship any longer, but I'm glad I could assist with this one.

Finally I will direct you to the very newest episode of the Revolting podcast;

Think of it as a momentary life preserver in a sea of soggy blankets.

The world is fucked I say! Fucked!

Stevil, I’d say come on up here to Canada but we’re fucked too. This country is becoming awfully right wing as of late. Fuck me, time to emigrate to Norway?
