Getting flat.

In this case, flat like flat, and not flat like horizontal which is the one I'm most familiar with.
So, are you familiar with this photo of Vic Murphy?
It's one of the best. I always wonder about that guy up ahead of him though. One of the most iconic bike photos of all time, and you're the guy with your back to it? I'd imagine finding out who he is wouldn't be too much trouble, but I kind prefer my own rando mystery scenarios.
Case in point- Like for example exactly how many torn ACLs and/or cases of tetanus occur each year at Swamp Fest;
As I've said in describing Burning Man from time to time, I wish I could just beam in there to take in an hour or two of it, but as far as committing as much time and effort as it takes to actually go there, that's a resounding no from me, dawg. In response to this clip, Sacramento legend and all around nice curmudgeon Sam Cunningham (pictured here shortly after the invention of color photography) had this to say;
"Even when I was younger I still would've thought this is stupid."
I wouldn't dare disagree.
So, up next we have a bit of bike related fodder. Jeff from Bike Jerks, formerly of All City, but specific to the following bit, Wilde Bicycles, has some news we could all likely use;
"Introducing The Moto Cruiser. This has been on the build list since before we even had a name.
I hope it’s obvious that this bike was created with a deep love and reverence for the history and culture of mountain biking;
I’ve been dreaming of this one for a long time. It’s a nod to so many influences… the klunkers of the mtb pioneers, the untouchable cool of a Cook cruiser, and of course my own beloved 1x1 which has been my main city bike for over a decade. This was a project from the heart;
I like to reuse old parts, so the Moto Cruiser was designed with maximum compatibility and customization in mind. Digging in your community stashes should produce most of the parts to put one together.
Hope you have an irrational desire to own one."
'Irrational' is the operative word there. I most certainly do. Do I need one? No. Would it make my life any better, or less complicated? Also no on both counts. Would riding one on trails further complicate the already tenuous relationship I have with my wrists and hands? Besides the 'do I still want one?' part, that's the only question to which I answer yes.
I like the stuff Frane's put together in his time away from All City, and as he goes further and further down the classic dirt-style bike rabbit holes, I suspect we're going to be seeing more and more of these styles of shenanigans, and I'm here for it.
Also this reminds me of a phrase that crossed my mind last night while in the throes of wrangling drunk children..
"Never shenan some more... Always shenanigan."
And with that in mind, have you seen this recent raw clip of Dead 'Gumby' Dave Adlington and Jason 'Rubber Knee' Adams doing all the contorted things they do?
Dave's Fast Plant/Sweeper/Boneless variations are things my lower back and various tendons only dream about. I sure do like watching those two work.
Right quick, in a bit of business news, I feel compelled to let ant interested parties know I have just restocked the generally popular WSRW hoodie as modeled here by architect of the best margarita you've ever had, the delightful Miss LC;

The hoodies are made by independent Trading Company and are screen printed right here in Bellingham by an actual human being who is my friend named Eldad. It doesn't get much more family than that.
Anyway, if you or a loved one would like to get your hands on, and your body in one, they are pretty comfy, and are also a great way to show the world you support both freedom of religion and equal rights.
Now before were part ways, here's the newest episode of Revolting;

My recording sounds choppy and shitty again, so I guess the only thing for me to do is get back to laying down.
