White knuckling as I go.

White knuckling as I go.

On my eight and a halfth hour of driving on my recent journey, it occurred to me that I've never done a solo drive for any longer than that. I've certainly done longer bids with a co-pilot or two but by myself, never. Five hours later I was just finding my rhythm but at 13 hours, and 18 minutes later, was glad to pull into my former HQ in Oakland just in time for a late supper.

It was a lovely adventure, with expansive horizons along the way;

This zone is just a hair north of a town called Yreka that exists about a sneeze away from the Oregon boarder where a mountain bike race called the Humbug Hurry Up used to take place. It was the grandpappy of all the regional one speed races (perhaps only second to the Lemurian Shasta Classic), and the only place I've ever seen an actual UFO. As I passed through, I looked up and did a finger gun and a wink to the sky just in case and for good measure.

But as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words so to save time on your part, and energy on mine, please allow me the honor of presenting an array of what my eyeballs have seen to yours;
The primary reason I made the journey was to retrieve my hardshell topper which has spent the last number of years in my ex's backyard, and was recently transported to my buddy's ranch in Gilroy, but at long last was reunited with its original home;
While in Gilroy, we chilled almost as hard as I ever have;
Then, hauled ass to the PDX by way of Mt. Shasta;
It was a week well spent, and I didn't even get hurt twice.

In the midst of all of this I was able to catch Swami John Reis not once, but twice as they embarked on a short tour themselves. Post-show I grabbed drummer Jason Kourkounis. and engaged in my ever-popular one question band interview which went like so;
Me: "How many pairs of white pants did you all bring on tour?"

Jason: "Just one each. We'll see how it works out."

And thus concludes the latest in my series of one question band interviews. As always thank you for your time and consideration on the matter.

It was a few days of life well enjoyed.

Finally, I would be remiss not to mention that there's even a brand new episode of Revolting;
Perhaps listen to it on a drive. Your knuckles will thank you.

Love your interview series, thanks for sharing

Doc- It’s the Yupoong Classic line. Maybe the 2500? If I’m not mistaken, they’re the same as the Stuntman Association hats I did a number of years ago.

Chris- I’m not entirely sure. I forgot he played with The Sultans as well. He’s a man about town with his many projects.

Oooooooo… a Revolting Hat! Now, the thing is that I’ve have gotten to the point that the only trucker hat I’ll wear now is an Otto 132-1037. If an emblem I like is not on one of those then I remove it and have it transplanted. That said. hats, bike grips, coffee, underwear…errryone’s got their thing. You may like bikini briefs and I like continental*. Whatever turns you on. *"commando", but I say continental b/c I’m classy like that.

Wow….haven’t seen Jason in years. Is he still playing with Bardo Pond? Fantastic drummer. Nice trip.
