Stuff dump.

It occurred to me two to five days ago that it’s been some time since I had a proper stuff dump as I used to in the days of yore.

Like, back when we were five years younger, and occasionally when I’d get tired of the existing narrative, or had an abundance of email fodder from people, I’d craft an entire post out of bits and pieces from other part’s of people’s lives.

Since nobody really emails anybody anymore (the trend is Instagram direct messages, with some sort of emoji or another), I’m left to my own devices to quilt work a post out of random jibber jabber as I see fit, and though I might have posted something about this previously, in light of today’s post’s opening photo, I feel inclined to bring around the following chestnut.

Have any of yinz heard about the Canadian dude who’s excavating underneath his house using RC equipment?

Some folks from up yonder are prolific serial killers (though they usually come from the interior, or Toronto), while some are, for example, mountain bikers on the North Shore, and then you’ve got this guy, but almost anyway you slice it, the people up there are crazy.

Alas, no matter the discipline, (aside from murder, natch) I contend that anyone who commits well over a decade to their craft might be in on a secret that the rest of us aren’t clear on. Is it meditative? I’m sure it is. Is he hurting anyone else? I’m sure he’s not.

So in conclusion, and based on further details found here, I support the hell out of this particular brand of insanity.

Moving on to things of perhaps a more business-ie sort of matter- Last week I received a very thoughtful care package from the good people at Portland Design Works. Besides a handwritten note, I also was presented a bag of beans, and one of their brand spanking new Hot Take Beverage transportation Utits, complete with a beverage to transport;

This isn’t a brand new concept, as I’ve seen some configuration or another of this idea for years, but usually an under-engineered made one by a drunk messenger in a dimly lit garage.

This is the only time I’ve seen a slick, mass-produced version;

And as one who quote enjoys a morning commute with a cup of coffee, I quite look forward to giving this a go.

Now, here is a very important video link that skater or not, everyone should watch;

She is hands down, one of my favorite skateboarders of all of my favorite skateboarders, and I think she’ll likely soon be one of yours too.

Finally, I’d like to officially announce that the artwork for the newest AHTBM skateboard deck is complete, and in the can. It’s taken over a year, two artists, hours of painstaking effort, numerous revisions, to take it from from conception to conclusion. I can’t give away too much, but I can at least allow the following;

Over the years a few people have asked when I’m going to do one of my own graphics, to which I’ve said ‘eventually’, but now that we’ve got this one banged out, it’s the next thing on my to-do list.

That’s certainly a bridge we’ll cross eventually, but for now, I’d like to thank, and celebrate not only the patience, but the skill and dedication of Matt Loomis.

You might initially have learned of his work though his numerous projects with Paul Component;

Or you might be like me, and initially learned of him because of his graphic on potentially one of the most important t-shirts ever created;

It’s damn well timed too, because spring is right around the corner, and them curbs aren’t going to play on, and fall off of themselves.

To say I’m over the moon about getting to work with him on this project would be an understatement. One might even go so far as to say I’m so excited, I could just dump.

Spread this like it's sick

    I’m picturing a Big lebowski type of character at the helm of those RC excavators.
