We have some stuff to cover.

The fog has yet to clear from my head, but these posts don’t write themselves. (Though not for lack of me hoping that they would.) We’ve got a metric assload of stuff to cover so the time to put on our learning caps is now.

Before we get into anything however, I want to make my weekly, or bi-daily announcement/reminder that I’ve gone against my better judgement and re-opened the order window for the smashingly popular Bandit replica woolie;

If this is something you would be interested in, the original post with all of the order and sizing information can be forever found here.

I swore I wasn’t going to make these again for the following reasons;

(1) I don’t want to get sued.
(2) Re-issuing limited edition garments make the Japanese investors who fall all over themselves for my product very unhappy.
(3) They are very expensive.
(4) They are a pain in the ass to make.

But as fate would have it, mine found its way into a washing machine (on cold, but these still aren’t machine washable) and now Demonika owns two. So since I am now without and the whole reason I made these to begin with was because I wanted one, I have to start all over again.

Now that we have that handled, let’s get to some stuff.

First up, Brian got in touch with some news about a well dressed throwdown that’s occurring this coming weekend in Cleveland;

“hey stevil, long time no email… i guess it’s been about a year since i last contacted you. well it’s that time again, time to put on your best tweed suit, wax your stache, and hop on your trusty steed and ride through some cleveland neighborhoods. yeah, yeah… you’re all the way out in california and not going to be able to make it out to the best damn tweed ride in america, the fantastic cleveland tweed ride!! i’m hoping you can at least show cleveland some love by mentioning the event in your blog, posting the event poster, and a few links.

the first is to the official facebook page
the second is to the official events page

the third is to the official teaser video;

thanks and maybe we’ll actually see you out here in cleveland one day…”

I don’t own any tweed, but I do have access to a potato sack with is kinda similar, so to Brian’s closing point, I can definitely say maybe.

Continuing on with other matters of business, there’s a guy named John. John is employed by a company called Seven Cycles. Seven Cycles not only makes really lovely steeds that no one I know can afford, but they also employ people who put their money where their mouths are, as indicated in the following excerpt from an email I recently received from the aforementioned John;

“On Sunday, we “raced” the Ronde Rosey, which is a 70 mile shit show of a race that tries to hit every patch of dirt in the metro-Boston area so that, even though you’re “racing” through cities and towns, you’re on the road as little as possible. Every tiny trail system and backyard path gets linked together into this sprawling mess of a course that the cue sheet doesn’t accurately describe and a GPS mostly confuses you into doubling back every mile or two.

I think the point is to get all the local shops and builders together to ride bikes together and to raise money for Bikes Not Bombs, and they call it a “race,” but as far as I know nobody won, or we are all winners or something like that, because Rosey, the guy who “organizes” it, was sitting drinking a beer when we got back, and there was no one to check in with, and it didn’t matter anyway, because by the time we got there most everybody was sitting around drinking beer.

Maybe beer was the trophy and everybody got one”

If beer is a trophy, I emerge victorious within five minutes of getting out of bed every day and I barely have to shed any blood in the process.

There was another bikecycle related athletic pursuit I’ve been clued in on that one can attend either before or after doing their time hanging out with Ted Nugent;

We have another Bike Festival weekend occurring in the North woods along Lake Superior up here in Marquette, Michigan. The low-down, its a local-yocal kind of weekend with snacks, bicycles, and some people pedaling faster than others. Oh yeah, we got a bank to sponsor this so there will be prize money for somebody to pay their bar tab at the end of the weekend.

Over and out,
Scott Wanhala”

Bike and lakes and snacks… Nothing wrong with any of those things.

Then Kevin from Lawrence, Kansas (where I’ve log heard tales of mountain bike related hijinx) got in touch to let me know that besides Lanolin, somebody out there is working over time to make the AHTBM kit look good;

“You were well represented at the Bone Bender 3/6 hour in Lawrence, KS this weekend.

Single speed dude in a skin suit was hard to catch and making the muddy rocks look easy. I blame some sort of black magic.

Adam Prosise took 3rd in the 6 hour single speed.

I like to credit the clothes, as they nearly always make the (wo)man.

It is with that, that I say much like my attention span, the mail bag is dwindling. It wasn’t the best post, but then again, I’m sure I’m capable of far worse.

I’ll now set to cleaning off the chalkboard so we can load it up all over again in the next lesson.

Class dismissed.

Spread this like it's sick

    Does the girl in the pictures jersey say “Boobs Red Mil” on her boobs, or “Bob’s Red mil” ?

    • Hashbrowns April 25, 2012 at 2:08 pm #

      Neither, it says, “Bob’s Red Mill,” with two L’s. And that “girl” is Mo Bruno-Roy, one of the most badass ladies in pro cyclocross.

        My parents were just talking about this place last night. I’d never heard of it, and then after these comments, I come to find that they are a producer of organic grains and are based in Oregon? I wasn’t supposed to learn anything yesterday.

    Getting lost and not reading cue and then getting lost sucks even more,, but really bad when yo follow the herd thinking they know where they are going,,, like in the Ragnarok..

    I’ve never liked Jack White or his movies. His pro-Mafiaa stance coupled with that movie he did with Bono and Jimi Page make him as square as that Black dude from the Pixies.

    I’m famous! The skinsuit got a lot of compliments as the race… I’m wanting to pick up one of the bandit jerseys…. Once my royalties start to pour in of course.
