Well, here we are on D-day. The day on which people all across this great planet can finally exercise their rights as human beings and stuff the ballot boxes for 2017’s running of the Great Model Building Nerd Off;
If you’d like the back story on the event’s history, you can go here and read up on it.
The short version is sometime last winter Loudass threw the gauntlet on a model building contest, and apparently there are a number of us here who have a little bit of free time to burn. Last year’s winner was KB from Portland’s Cat Six Cycles, and I’m not ashamed to say he put a whoopin’ on the rest of us with his entry;
I have no doubt it was his entry that raised the bar for this year, because there are a number of seriously amazing submissions… As well as at least a couple of examples from folks who apparently got stuck in the starting blocks.
Because this is my site, and I make the rules, (though it’s not in the running), I would also like to post a photo of the truck I did as a warmer-upper;
Except for my actual entry, never before have I wasted so much time on so little.
Anyway, personally I could give a rip about the competition. We had a lot of fun, and having fun is one of the top three most important directives in my life.
If you’re already aware of all of the details from last year however, then please advance into today’s post and do your civic duty in voting for your favorite.
At the bottom of the page there is a big button with which to cast your vote, or just make a note of which number is your favorite and click here.
As you do your duty, remember to vote with your heart, your head, and your conscience.
Having said all that, I now wish the best of luck to each of the contestants, and may the best dork win;
If you’d like to see more, or bigger images of the collection, the whole thing can be found here.
And thus concludes the 2017 running of the dorks.
I reckon I’m gonna I’m gonna leave this as a stand alone post for at least until Monday the sixth, which is both when I’m gonna boogie to Colorado, as well as when I’m going to submit the order for the brand spanking new AHTBM Tchort shirt.
Also, for folks local to the Bay, if you’d like to swing by Chrome’s San Francisco store on Friday evening, some will be on display there then;
Don’t forget to bring your social anxiety.
Again, I hope folks had fun looking at the fruits of people’s efforts, as well as building, or in some cases not building their entries, which means they just have a head start for next year.
