You’ll get what you get, and you won’t throw a fit.

What are we doing today, you ask?

Mostly nothing but ruminating on the fact that I don’t think I can buy a slacker fork for my beloved Hunter 29er;

I think, despite the fact that this bike is only thirteen years old, paring it with a longer travel fork is likely out of the question, leaving me with the option of lopping off the head tube and replacing it with a new one which at the point, just getting a new frame built would likely make more sense.

Do I have that right?

Is it that I’ve been on the planet longer which makes thirteen years seem like a rather insignificant amount of time, or is technological obsoleteness (obsoletivity) speeding up?

Maybe a bit of both is the answer.

I guess I could just pivot, and buy one Kona and get one for free, quick before that heaping pile finally takes on water and disappears forever;

What a sad swan song for the legacy brand.

Hey, in less frustrating news, here’s a video of Gabriel Wibmer riding a ‘cross bike;

Just a normal day on the trail for him, I guess.

Moving onto business types of things, I would like to again mention I have that short edition of prints I made of the people pile called ’57 Faces’ in the store right now;

It won’t be the best thing you could give someone as a Pagen-Holiday-Stolen-By-Christians gift, but it wouldn’t be the worst either.

Also, I will reiterate last week’s notification regarding the Hessian Obsession t-shirts, (if only because I’ve received emails from people inquiring where their goods are in the interim);

You see, in past years I paid the invoice when the shirts shipped. This time around I got confused, and lightly lagged on paying the invoice, which was not only a deposit, but money to buy the blanks to begin with.

So you can bet that once I paid it, I was quite dismayed with the realization that the wait was going to be longer than usual, but I’m almost comfortable with the notion that I’m possibly the world’s most ham-fisted business owner, so when things go tits up, it’s just kinda par for the course.

I do quite dislike letting other people down however, and not to mix metaphors, but there’s the rub that gets stuck in my craw.

Cheever sent me this clip of the original ‘Hot Rod‘;

I wonder what young Terry Bolinger is up to nowadays? That is of course besides wearing his mom’s orange jumpsuit.

Now lastly, as I have 106 times thus far in my history, it’s my distinct pleasure to present the 107th episode of Revoting;

So listen, ignore, or tantrum if you got ’em.

Spread this like it's sick

    I imagine you’ve faced the reality of an aging bike and newer innovations not jibbing in your time more than once. I certainly have attempted to reinvent bikes into other guises than what they were designed to be, but this never really works out. This is especially true when major geometry and/or component changes are on deck. I’ve learned to accept bikes/frames for what they are and either keep or sell them without making them into something that they are not. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9IT3A2eY08

    I feel like, if I had known that Terry ate shit, I might not have tried so much dumb shit myself. I mean, if Terry is gonna eat shit, how much shit am I gonna eat? A lot. A whole lot of shit.

    Having listened to the above-mentioned ep yesterday, I remember you mentioning the underwhelmingness (that is definitely not a word) of last year’s Tired video. While I can appreciate a company called “tired” putting out a minimal effort video, I thought I might share the homies with you… Check out NeverWas Skateboarding on YouTube. Seven full videos and counting, plus other good shit. Including documentation of the annual get-together lovingly referred to as Stupidfest.

    I believe the word you’re looking for is “obsolescence”.

    Nerdery complete… I’m out.

      Some days it just doesn’t pay to be me.
