One solid year of the Mondays.

One of these days I’m gonna crack my eyes open and not feel the immediate onset of pure dread.

Until that day comes however, I suppose I’ll just fake it.

Firstly, I’ve long intended to throw this here promo video up from All City, but I kept not because other items continued to fall onto my plate.

However, of the handful of people who haven’t seen it, here’s six minutes and thirty-eight seconds you’re not gonna get back;

Based on my limited experience of sitting in weed-smelling dimly lit basements lined with fake wood paneling, blacklight posters, and indoor/outdoor carpeting, all components of this clip seem accurate. One thing I will note however, SK is about the furthest thing from ‘a grown ass man‘ I can think of;

A grown ass man-child I think is more appropriate.

I kid, because I love.

Moving on from dirty goings on in Minneapolis, to snowy ones in Colorado, I got a shout from Laura of Soulrun fame with a bit of information regarding a throw down they have scheduled for the end of this month;

Stevil-

So, we’re having a little party on Tuesday Jan 23rd just before Fat Bike Worlds which is that weekend. Our friends from 45nrth will join us at Dave’s shop Redstone Cyclery. Dave is busting out his BBQ and making dawgs and such. 45nrth is gonna raffle off some gear (and Soulrun too) all of the proceeds from which will go to WISE (Ann Trombley’s non-profit for Women in sports enrichment);

Then were gonna all head up to Peaceful Valley (you rode there!) for a night ride! I hope it all works out well, we’ve got a great bunch of people involved, we just wish you could come too!

We also celebrated MT’s Birthday this weekend, it was all fun! She is such great lady:);

Ok, I’ll talk to you more soon!

xoLaura

I don’t love much, but the kids from Soulrun, Redstone, and WISE I most certainly do.

If you’re in that particular neck of the woods on the 23rd of this month, then might I suggest you mark your calendar(s), and get out for the fun.

Just remember to wear some wool socks that don’t fall down in your boots, because having grown up in them there mountains, that was a thing that sticks in the especially expansive hate file of my brain.

In other news out of the mailbag, Katie from Feedback Sports reached out from Cross Nationals on Saturday, with some warm thoughts letting me know I was on her mind;

Stevil-

We saw this today and thought of you;

Katie

That just goes to show that my relationship with Feedback is exactly where it’s supposed to be.

Finally, relating to Nationals and Katie, (albeit another Katie altogether), as I declared on Friday, Katie Compton would soon be coming down with both barrels on her fourteenth Cyclocross Nationals title;

I even made a bet with a compatriot of mine. She claimed that Keogh was gonna take it. So as the first lap was under way, I forced her to agree that the loser buys the winner a drink. Further more, the loser has to wear my leopard print fez;

-while enjoying said drink from a lying position on the floor, table, bar top, or wherever we can find a place to even up and get horizontal.

I will be seeing her next month and will assuredly do my best to document the event should it occur.

The mental image alone is almost enough to wash away Mondays, no matter how many more we’re facing.

Spread this like it's sick

    That jersey sums everything up for me in 2018. Cross still sucks, but is awesome sometimes.

    Though I realize we should be more posi this year, I find bathtub amounts of joy in the quote, “that was a thing that sticks in the especially expansive hate file of my brain”. Well done.
